  • Good stuff

Galen is great, as usual. The other dude doesn’t add much of significance to the show.

  • Contend good. Audio not so much.

Love the content! Don’t enjoy the audio: Galen’s audio is much quieter than his co-host, necessitating turning the volume up but then someone’s mic keeps making a thumping sound. Will definitely keep tuning in, but I, for one, would appreciate some auditory improvements. Thanks!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

🏈 Michigan Hires Kyle Whittingham, CFP Format Questions & Quarterfinal Previews
Q: What is the next step for CFP format changes in 2026 and beyond?
The hosts suggest two paths: either remove the weekly rankings show or increase transparency by airing committee deliberations to explain rankings, and they favor expanding the playoff to 16 or more teams to include additional data points and reduce perceived exclusivity.
🏈 CFP First-Round Preview + College Football Media Wars with Bryan Curtis (The Ringer)
Q: What are your thoughts on the Notre Dame–Alabama/Notre Dame–playoff controversy and the media reaction?
Curtis notes the media's own self-interest in critiquing the committee and argues that regardless of outcome, there will be arguments and coverage; he emphasizes that Notre Dame's exclusion is as much a media story as a playoff decision, and that the ecosystem benefits from controversy.
SEC Scheduling Angst, Texas Pressure, USC’s Upside and the 9–3 CFP Debate with College Football with Sam
Q: Do you think a nine-and-three SEC team could make the playoff this year, and would it likely come from the SEC?
The panelists lean toward it being possible but unlikely, depending on how teams like Oklahoma, Texas, and Georgia perform, and whether the schedule strength and key wins can sway the committee.
🚨 Sorsby Pulls His Lawsuit, Texas Tech Backs Down, NCAA Enforcement & the Future of Eligibility
Q: Did this work because the Big 12 had more of a legal leg to stand on in sanctioning its own members than the NCAA?
No single party had a guaranteed path; the Big 12 benefited from a unique alignment of legal threats, public support, and coordinated actions among member schools, which allowed them to push for sanctions in a way the NCAA hadn't consistently demonstrated.
🏈 Sacramento State to FBS? Plus the 24-Team CFP Debate & Big Ten 2026 Preview w/ College Football with Sam | Football Weather
Q: Sam, how has Indiana positioned itself for 2026 in a tougher Big Ten schedule?
Sam explains that Indiana benefits from a stable coaching staff and returning players, with optimism about the offense's continuity and the defense potentially improving. He notes the importance of the offensive line and the QB situation, while acknowledging some uncertainty at tight end and the need for depth across the roster.

Frequently Asked Questions About Football Weather

What is Football Weather about and what kind of topics does it cover?

This show delivers brisk, data-driven takes on the college football landscape, with two Midwest/Northeast hosts dissecting conference dynamics, playoff formats, scheduling, and governance. Episodes frequently cover realignment, NIL issues, and the money and policy forces shaping who wins on the field, often mixing analytical projections with light banter and sponsor integrations. A standout aspect is the ongoing willingness to discuss structural changes at a systems level (playoff formats, governance bodies, and scheduling) rather than just team-by-team recaps, making it especially relevant for brands looking to align with national-level football trends and informed, opinionated discourse.
