  • Maybe the best podcast?

Longtime listener—love what you guys are doing. Diehards, newcomers to the sport, Olympics casual fans—everyone can enjoy FRL. Olympics coverage, JD’s leaf-in-the-beer incident, Avery Gaming somehow being a person I now indirectly know (?), and that one video where Tyler had to translate the Manga backstory for a Rei Haguchi tweet about Ono—all *chefs kiss*. Stay winning

  • Not for casual fans

This show is entertaining and informative *if* you are deep in the weeds obsessed with wrestling. These guys will talk for 20 mins, mention 60 names, not mention a school or country (for international matches) or weight class; use first or last name with no consistent pattern.

If you already know every decent wrestler and on earth it’s (probably) great. If you are a casual fan wanting to get prepped for a big event, don’t waste your time.

  • Get rid of Christine Askren.

These two should make it official. Pyles is the worst. How about hiring a legend. Not Askren! A warrior who can be respected.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Major Rule Changes, Cael Sanderson And Russia's World Team - FRL 1,250
Q: What were Cael Sanderson's biggest takeaways from the NWCA convention and his interview?
Cael's presence underscored the importance of having high-caliber players who genuinely want to be part of the program, and he highlighted roster considerations such as potential extra years for Class of 2022 athletes, while acknowledging the complexities around high school athletes in RTCs and the commitment required from coaches.
Cael Sanderson Interview: Recruiting Principles, Rule Changes & A Great Casey Cunningham Story
Q: What makes a wrestler excellent in your program beyond rankings?
He emphasizes fit, love for the sport, consistent effort, and the ability to train like the program's best performers as key ingredients for long-term success, rather than relying solely on early hype.
Cael Sanderson Interview: Recruiting Principles, Rule Changes & A Great Casey Cunningham Story
Q: Do you think the five-for-five eligibility change is a good idea for athletes and programs?
Cael expresses skepticism about midstream rule changes, noting it penalizes athletes and creates confusion; he would have preferred stability and notes that the rule may pressure players who would have chosen to redshirt or train differently.
Myles Amine Talks Olympics, NCAA Career, World Cup, & More - FRL 1,243
Q: What is the biggest lesson you learned from your Olympic bronze medal run?
That the smallest, most technical details—like blocking out outside noise and staying disciplined in the finish—often determine whether you win or lose, and you can't rely on big moments alone without mastering the fundamentals.
Keys To Victory At Final X + Have Delays Gone Too Far? - FRL 1,237
Q: How quickly does Caleb pin Dylan Danis?
The hosts speculate that Caleb Henson has potential to finish, but acknowledge that Danis remains a formidable tester; the expectation is that if given an opportunity, Caleb could press for a finish, though it's not guaranteed and depends on Danis's level and strategy.
