I just listened to this on my drive home I found it excellent a very easy listen The pair are very engaging and enjoyable Their batter is very genuine with a casual intimacy That only comes with a lifetime of knowing and engaging Stephen’s insight is a treasure that Lola draws out of him with a very casual grace Hoping this isn’t their last
I thought this first episode from Lola Frears and her dad was fantastic. I love the way the two of them get along. I’ve got to watch this older movie now. But listening to her and her dad is great. A little comedy with their true review. I can’t wait for the next one. Thank you. Sue townsend 24/7/22. I’ve never lost In Translation but the discussion makes me put it on my list of movies to watch. I give the podcast 5 stars as usual. Lola and her had are great together more
I was looking for a new movie podcast and came across this one with the director Stephen Frears and his daughter Lola. They pick a film that (so far) they both like and they then talk about it. And that’s it. Both are really engaging, they both have interesting and insightful things to say and they’re a delight to listen to. With Stephen’s background in film and television there are also plenty of opportunities for the odd aside/anecdote, which are equally insightful and engaging. Loving this!
Fun podcast, it reminds me of spending Sunday evenings with my dad as he dissected all the underlying themes, motifs, inspiration, and random production trivia he knew of whatever movie we were watching that week.
