  • Go Tom and Team!

I’ve become a huge fan of Tom and his FNN network of competent and deeply knowledgeable reporters. Without fail, this podcast is my go-to source for accurate and non-biased perspectives and information on all aspects of the federal government and the ecosystems within which it exists. Tom is a hilarious and humane host that doesn’t shy away from asking tough questions and providing deep historical context.

Please stop promoting government agencies and unions who do not want to serve the American public. The same people crying about returning to an office are the same ones sitting side by side with other fans in an indoor sports arena. They are the same ones sitting elbow to elbow in a church, without a mask, pretending to be Christian (while their kids sit in a Sunday school class). They are the same ones that are shooing their kids out the door to sit on a school bus and then in a classroom. Are ... more

  • Please fix!!

After every episode finishes it begins the lessons learned leadership podcast with a interview with the CEO of Navy Fed Credit Union. Why?! Love this podcast but it is painful to listen to that introduction every single time after the podcast end.

The Federal Drive with Terry Gerton - - Tuesday, May 5, 2026
Q: What are the terms of the GAO's authority under the bill, and how might this interact with the Impoundment Control Act?
The bill would limit GAO's ability to sue the executive branch to obtain agency records, constraining their leverage and reflecting a broader pushback in this behind-the-scenes conflict between the Trump administration and GAO over GAO's role.

Q: What kind of budget cut are we talking about under this latest version of the Appropriations Bill?
The bill would allocate about $612 million for GAO next year, roughly $200 million below the current enacted level and about $248 million below GAO's actual request for fiscal 2027, which could necessitate cutting around 1,000 jobs if enacted.
A new executive order makes fixed‑price, performance‑based contracts the default across the federal government
Q: What is the core intention behind making fixed-price contracts the default across the government?

Customer experience modernization sounds straightforward, until agencies try to execute it
Q: What does a productive public-private partnership look like in federal modernization?
A collaborative approach where government and private vendors share data, align on objectives, and operate within secure, compliant environments to deliver faster, more cost-effective services.
Customer experience modernization sounds straightforward, until agencies try to execute it
Q: Where are agencies most cautious about using AI in service delivery right now?
They are evaluating AI readiness with different use cases and models, balancing appetite for innovation with concerns about security, privacy, and governance before scaling.
