  • Get the Latest Federal Updates

This pod helps me keep up with federal bureaucratic updates. Awfully wordy though. I never listen to the Lessons in Leadership and don’t understand why it’s a part of this pod.

  • Go Tom and Team!

I’ve become a huge fan of Tom and his FNN network of competent and deeply knowledgeable reporters. Without fail, this podcast is my go-to source for accurate and non-biased perspectives and information on all aspects of the federal government and the ecosystems within which it exists. Tom is a hilarious and humane host that doesn’t shy away from asking tough questions and providing deep historical context.

Please stop promoting government agencies and unions who do not want to serve the American public. The same people crying about returning to an office are the same ones sitting side by side with other fans in an indoor sports arena. They are the same ones sitting elbow to elbow in a church, without a mask, pretending to be Christian (while their kids sit in a Sunday school class). They are the same ones that are shooing their kids out the door to sit on a school bus and then in a classroom. Are ... more

The Federal Drive with Terry Gerton - - Thursday, July 30, 2026
Q: Is there a risk that the 'splashy' first award will open the floodgates for many more rewards?
The precedent is being set to show that fast, meaningful rewards can exist while maintaining caution about cases, eligibility, and the nexus to the enforcing agency, which should spur more considered reporting and enforcement actions.
The Federal Drive with Terry Gerton - - Thursday, July 30, 2026
Q: What are the key points you're watching in contractor whistleblower reforms?
Bipartisan agreement exists to improve protections, with focus on ensuring whistleblowers can report without retaliation, maintaining a strong enforcement framework, and resolving eligibility and coverage questions for intelligence community contractors.
The Federal Drive with Terry Gerton - - Thursday, July 30, 2026
Q: What is happening or where are the inequalities between how federal employees are treated and how the contracting workforce is treated?
Contractors have historically enjoyed stronger rights, including access to court and jury trials, with reforms increasingly focusing on extending protections and preserving whistleblower rights across the contractor workforce.
The U.S. has protected whistleblowers since the Continental Congress, 250 years later insiders still matter the most
Q: Why is AI-focused whistleblower protection becoming a priority now?
AI presents unique risks inside private companies where governance might be weaker, making explicit protections essential to enable insiders to warn the public safely.
The U.S. has protected whistleblowers since the Continental Congress, 250 years later insiders still matter the most
Q: What changes would a consolidated whistleblower law bring, versus sector-specific laws?
A consolidated approach could simplify compliance and ensure consistency across agencies, but sector-specific tailoring helps align laws with the relevant enforcement bodies and industries.
