  • Go Tom and Team!

I’ve become a huge fan of Tom and his FNN network of competent and deeply knowledgeable reporters. Without fail, this podcast is my go-to source for accurate and non-biased perspectives and information on all aspects of the federal government and the ecosystems within which it exists. Tom is a hilarious and humane host that doesn’t shy away from asking tough questions and providing deep historical context.

  • Support working Americans

Please stop promoting government agencies and unions who do not want to serve the American public. The same people crying about returning to an office are the same ones sitting side by side with other fans in an indoor sports arena. They are the same ones sitting elbow to elbow in a church, without a mask, pretending to be Christian (while their kids sit in a Sunday school class). They are the same ones that are shooing their kids out the door to sit on a school bus and then in a classroom. Are ... more

  • Please fix!!

After every episode finishes it begins the lessons learned leadership podcast with a interview with the CEO of Navy Fed Credit Union. Why?! Love this podcast but it is painful to listen to that introduction every single time after the podcast end.

Big contract compliance burdens...aren't just a problem for contractors
Q: What do colleges need to do as they get more involved in federal contracts?
Colleges and universities may need to start building their own certified cost accounting systems and establish a centralized compliance framework.
Big contract compliance burdens...aren't just a problem for contractors
Q: Can you give us an example of some of those risks?
A recent example is Georgia Tech settling a False Claims Act case related to cybersecurity compliance issues.
The Federal Drive with Terry Gerton - - Monday, November 2, 2025
Q: What concerns you most based on what we know about, for example, who's been furloughed at the moment?
During a shutdown, critical cyber defenders are furloughed, leaving national security vulnerable, as attackers target these moments of reduced capacity.
Yet another way the government shutdown is making things tough for contractors
Q: Based on past shutdowns, are there any exceptions to the Prompt Payment Act by virtue of the government being shut down?
No exceptions exist; the clock runs once the invoice is accepted, which can lead to costs incurred if payments are delayed.
Yet another way the government shutdown is making things tough for contractors
Q: What impacts are you seeing there, and what's it meant so far, if anything, in terms of delays?
There have been significant delays due to furloughed employees responsible for processing invoices, which is causing pain for companies that provide essential services to the government.
