  • This podcast was my first exposure to Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), a modality that uses structured questions to help people focus on their present lives and imagine the future they’d like to create. Thanks to the generous commentary from host Dr. Elliott Connie, bookending each episode, I found myself able to “play along at home” and reflect deeply on my own journey. The family demonstrating SFBT is both relatable and aspirational as they work through individual, familial, and generati... more

  • Not toxic positivity

Elliott does a wonderful job meeting each family where they are at and trying to help them see the small signals that tell them they are doing what in alignment with what they want. • Hooked!

I love Dr. Connie’s approach to therapy. His questions challenge you beyond surface answers. His empathy & compassion allows you to feel heard & seen. I often find myself asking, “What has been better since the last time” I listened. Great show!

  • Toxic Positivity

I really am here to follow the family’s story. I commend them for their vulnerability and sharing their stories. Every episode, I feel more and more annoyed about the host’s focus on positivity. It feels toxic to always try to shift things to be positive, and especially with Jaylen, it feels like he’s not listening to her concerns and feelings by always trying to shift things to be positive/happy. I understand the value of focusing on the positive, but it’s important to acknowledge and sit with ... more
