I’m so interested in this subject given this cowards success in evading capture for so long. This is well detailed. Some quality issues evident from using recordings but still very well done!!
The content of this podcast is great, but the episodes are SO DISTORTED that they’re barely listenable.
On the last episode, why did y’all decide to interview Mike Morford and have him speak through a distorted megaphone and 1930’s style old timey phone? Strange choice because he probably had some very interesting things to say.
This was definitely professional, thorough and extremely engaging.
Full of the clichés familiar to mainstream media listeners: flashy sound effects, attention grabbing sound clips etc. Plus being light on thoughtful content. At one point the hostess says “We hope you’re enjoying this podcast”.. the subject is a brutal, evil, frightening rapist and murderer! You don’t ‘enjoy’ listening to this, this isn’t entertainment (except in the minds of mainstream media), this is documentary material. Compared to podcasts from non-mainstream media podcasters such as Casefi... more
I fully expected this to be cheesy and amateur, but wow, I was wrong. Very well-done and goes into the chilling details of this notorious killer. Listened to this before his arrest.. remarkable. I don’t doubt this played a role in his ultimate capture.
What happen to the episodes? Is the podcast over? And I agree...too short and the constant commercials and reminders of your news is annoying.
Paul Holes is a very insightful and introspective piece to the EAR/ONS GSK case.
I will update this when I have heard the whole thing. But this became almost childish with the commercials for Fox40 “We love what we do”... They don’t seem to realize that the majority of people listening are not in the Sacramento TV market. A commercial for Sacramento lawyers???? Come on. This is so amateurish. There is no break between the commercial and the podcast. Thought it was part of the podcast.
Clearly this wanna be “Serial” is done by people who have never listened to a podcast. I... more
Always looking for new true crime podcasts and to find out our local news station had one and based around the infamous EAR/ONS I had to subscribe.
Overall rating 5 stars
for great audio quality and production 5 stars
Story 5 stars
Keep it up
A local news team covering this spat of unsolved crimes could really have done a lot to raise awareness and bring out new information. I was very excited when I heard this was coming out. But only 3 episodes? And those episodes are far too short and spend much of the time promoting their news show. Very disappointed. I'd recommend the 5 part series on EARONS done by Casefiles for actual information and that guy doesn't even have a journalism degree. Hopefully this acts as a stepping stone for so... more
The story is very compelling but 16 minute episode broken up by and add for the nightly news is pretty annoying. Not sure I’ll continue listening after that.
My mother, myself 14, & brother 16 lived in Carmichael 1976. It was a very scary time. It changed me forever knowing a real person would cause this much terror to a community, intentionally. He’s either in prison or dead because having this podcast and tv broadcast so much lately about him, he’s such a narcissist, if he were able, he’d strike again. No psychopath escalates his level of risk and vanishes. That’s like an arsonist setting a skyscraper on fire and leaving the scene, what’s the poin... more
I agree love podcast but don’t like constant commercial about when news is on. I live in the area i know when you’re on. Once is enough please.
The paws of old school news people who’ve never listened to a podcast left dirty prints all over what could be a great piece of storytelling. NATIONAL PODCAST AUDIENCES DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR NEWSCAST. Get the commercials for your news out of there. A good podcast will advertise for itself locally. You’ve ruined it before you got started.
