  • Worth a listen if you’re metal attuned!

The work put into this podcast is highly visible just by listening to one episode. I highly appreciate the effort put in to link Aussies to overseas artists, the promotion of gigs/bands within Australia & the honesty/humour is also quite enjoyable. Bonus points for men discussing how they feel publicly about their art to share with others. Would love to see more female artists interviewed! Keen to hear more 🤘

  • Not a podcast

Is this a radio show? Yes.

This isn’t a podcast and shouldn’t be called one. The questions are not insightful or interesting (podcasts are these things). The questions are the boring, same same that every single press/magazine/radio asks.

Don’t waste your time with this mind numbing, waste of a show.

Please stop making this pointless show.

  • THIS GUY REALLY KNOWS HIS METAL!!!

METAL FANS, THIS IS OUR GUY!!! Just when I thought we'd never get another Andrew Haug or Costa Zouliou, Nev comes along! This dude knows his stuff! It's good to finally hear an interviewer with the knowledge and love of the genre that's currently missing from most metal radio shows and podcasts. THIS BLOKE CLEARLY WALKS THE WALK!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

FRENZAL RHOMB: Lindsay McDougall on Dead of Winter Duo Set, Opera House & Weezer Tribute Show
Q: What was the plan for Frenzal Rhomb at the Opera House and why did it not come to fruition?
There was a booked two-night Opera House run with a full orchestra for Sans Souci-era tracks, including a plan to perform songs like Bucket Bong and Punch in the Face with orchestral backing; however, it was ultimately shelved due to industry/situation changes and the complexities of staging such a crossover in that venue.
MODEST MOUSE: Isaac Brock on An Eraser and a Maze, songwriting, Ice Cream Party & canning peaches
Q: How has the Ice Cream Party Club impacted the band?
It provides a home base for fans and a way to keep the community engaged, which helps the band learn from the audience and stay connected outside of traditional touring.
MODEST MOUSE: Isaac Brock on An Eraser and a Maze, songwriting, Ice Cream Party & canning peaches
Q: What's it like playing on a boat?
It's different; you notice the motion and it requires adjusting, but I still aim for the same energy and connection with the band and audience.
POISON THE WELL: Ryan Primack Talks Peace in Place, Australian Tour & The Opposite of December
Q: How have the new songs been to play live compared with older material?
They're fun and challenging, not always easy, but positively energizing to perform live; even when mistakes happen, the experience feels worthwhile and exciting as the band tightens its live execution.
POISON THE WELL: Ryan Primack Talks Peace in Place, Australian Tour & The Opposite of December
Q: What are you looking forward to most about getting back to Australia?
Revisiting favorite venues, reconnecting with great staff and audiences, and celebrating the legacy of the records in a live setting, particularly with the opportunity to perform a full playthrough of a landmark album.
