Ian, I am currently 14 years old, and my school has a lot of good tennis players. We do Saturday clinics and this one day, the pro had us do some footwork drills. He said to first take big steps to cover the amount of ground you need to cover. Then, once you’ve got in position, to take a bunch of little steps, as if to micro-adjust your position to make perfect contact with the ball.
