  • An identity security podcast that’s not afraid of detail. Finally!

Merill has hit the nail on the head with the content and depth of discussion in the first episode of Entra.Chat. So many security (and more specifically identity) podcasts are great to listen to however are so high level and conceptual you rarely come away with advice you can apply when practicing identity security. Sometimes they’re borderline product placement!

Merrill’s pod is choc full of practical examples you instinctively want to store away in your brain as you just know one day you wil... more

The New Control Plane for Microsoft Entra Tenant Governance
Q: How does the governance relationship between tenants actually get set up?
It's a two-step or three-step flow initiated by the governed tenant, where the governing tenant proposes roles, groups, and apps to be injected. The governed tenant then approves the list, ensuring both sides agree before the relationship is established and ongoing management begins.
The New Control Plane for Microsoft Entra Tenant Governance
Q: What are the key differences between Tenant Governance Basic and Premium?
Basic includes cross-tenant role assignments, activation across Entra licenses, and basic governance capabilities, while Premium adds the related tenants discovery and the ability to inject custom applications into governed tenants. Future features may be allocated between tiers as the product expands.
The New Control Plane for Microsoft Entra Tenant Governance
Q: Can you share why Microsoft built tenant governance and the origin story behind it?
The feature is one product addressing a large problem space: governing potentially millions of tenants. The motivation grew out of Microsoft's response to a major password spray attack in early 2024, which demonstrated the need to harden tooling and processes and to secure the expansive multi-tenant environment by providing an end-to-end governance framework.
How to Secure Copilot Agents, Azure DevOps & Defender (+ more) with Maester 2.1 (Full Breakdown)

Sam and Merill discuss ongoing work, including integrating new APIs, extending tests for Defender and Azure DevOps, continuing to simplify contributor experiences, and pursuing long-term visions like multi-tenant pipelines, historical test data, a hosted Maester service, and deeper AI-assisted tooling.
How to Secure Copilot Agents, Azure DevOps & Defender (+ more) with Maester 2.1 (Full Breakdown)
Q: Tell us a little about yourself and how you got into this work.
Sam shares a long history in IT and security, starting in the corporate world and transitioning to consulting, where Maester and PowerShell became central to his work, especially with security assessments and 365 deployment, leading to his role at Patriot Consulting.
