Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EP 81: A conversation with Scott Miller, MD author of authentic beauty
Q: What final messages do you want to convey to patients, residents, and fellow colleagues about practicing with vision, skill, and will?
The core message is to maintain vision, masterful skill, and will to stand in for patients before, during, and after surgery, prioritizing safety, integrity, and service, and to focus on helping patients stand taller, smile brighter, and gain self-confidence.
EP 81: A conversation with Scott Miller, MD author of authentic beauty
Q: In terms of the younger surgeons and perhaps the use of social media, do you think it's integral or necessary?
He suggests it's not strictly necessary but can be valuable; surgeons should manage their personal brand carefully to avoid trivializing the profession and ensure public representations reflect their expertise.
EP 81: A conversation with Scott Miller, MD author of authentic beauty
Q: Okay. So you mentioned many times about your overhead. If you could sort of for the listeners, maybe the biggest items and how you kept them low, and if you had any help, any advisors or a community that helped you keep those things in focus.
Dr. Miller emphasizes investing in people and controlling overhead, choosing carefully who to hire, and balancing technology adoption with long-term value, while keeping a patient-centered focus and recognizing the private-practice realities of staffing and facilities.
S16 Ep78: Mastering Social Media with Kelly Killeen, MD
Q: How do you manage the balance between authenticity and professional responsibility online?
I stay true to what I enjoy and am good at, carefully curate content for my audience, and use patient education as the core goal, avoiding sensationalism while addressing real concerns.
S16 Ep78: Mastering Social Media with Kelly Killeen, MD
Q: What made you decide to expand beyond Instagram to platforms like TikTok and YouTube?
TikTok highlighted my ability to answer questions and explain complex topics clearly; I shifted to a mix of short-form content and longer-form YouTube videos to educate and engage patients.
