  • A fantastic talk show

I'm a big fan of Omicron Energy and I like the way they make their products, and innovation in sharing knowledge with everyone on the globe. I very much appreciate your sharing. I almost listen to all of the podcast episodes and in most of them, I told many times to make sure I understand the speakers. But, honestly, sometimes I still can not get the point because my English is not very well. It will be great if every episode has an article/transcript that belongs.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#127: PD Monitoring │Part 2: The Tech Behind Continuous Defect Tracking
Q: How does continuous monitoring aid maintenance planning compared with offline tests?
Continuous monitoring reveals developing trends and provides a long-term history, enabling more reliable planning and the ability to allocate maintenance resources more effectively.
#127: PD Monitoring │Part 2: The Tech Behind Continuous Defect Tracking
Q: Why don't you need to be a PD expert to understand what the monitoring system is indicating?
If the system is properly commissioned, it will clearly indicate when something important is happening; basic PD knowledge helps interpret alarms, but the system itself conveys actionable signals through trends and patterns.
#127: PD Monitoring │Part 2: The Tech Behind Continuous Defect Tracking
Q: How much operator involvement is required after a PD monitoring system is connected and running?
Once commissioned, the system can run largely automatically, with alarms prompting operators to review data and take action when necessary; initial setup is crucial for meaningful alerts.
#126: PD Monitoring │Part 1: The Shift to Condition-Based Asset Planning
Q: What are the stress factors leading asset managers to consider continuous monitoring?
Asset managers want to avoid unplanned downtime and get the best overall picture of asset health to schedule maintenance intelligently, reducing unexpected outages and extending asset life.
#126: PD Monitoring │Part 1: The Shift to Condition-Based Asset Planning
Q: Could you please describe the difference between offline PD diagnostic testing versus online PD monitoring to get this best picture of asset condition?
Offline diagnostics are usually triggered by incidents or changes and look at a specific phase in a controlled state, whereas online monitoring provides a continuous, real-time view of the asset under normal operating conditions, allowing trend analysis and early detection of developing issues.
