  • Your podcast

Thank you for putting out this podcast. It is informative. I have one suggestion. This is not a criticism. It is not clear who the target audience for this is. Sometimes, I feel like it is targeted at a patient. Other times it is target at the doctor.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Type 1 Diabetes and Pregnancy
Q: What are the key features of automated insulin delivery devices that make them the treatment of choice for type 1 diabetes these days?
Automated insulin delivery devices combine CGM, an insulin pump, and an algorithm to automate insulin dosing, reducing daily decision fatigue and improving glycemic control, which can lead to better outcomes and less worry for patients.
Impact of Androgen Receptors on Estrogen Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer Microenvironments
Q: What did your study do to investigate AR's influence on the tumor immune microenvironment?
We analyzed serial biopsies from a clinical trial, using RNA profiling and high-plex immunohistochemistry to track changes in immune cells and pathways over time under different treatments, including AR antagonism.
Impact of Androgen Receptors on Estrogen Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer Microenvironments
Q: Can you explain how androgen receptors come into play after endocrine therapies have reduced estrogen signaling?
AR signaling may become a compensatory pathway when estrogen signaling is suppressed; long-term aromatase inhibitor use can raise androgen levels, and AR-driven signaling could sustain tumor growth and drive resistance.
Impact of Androgen Receptors on Estrogen Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer Microenvironments
Q: Your study specifically looks at estrogen receptor positive breast cancer. What do we know about its prevalence and mortality rate?
ER+ breast cancer is the most common subtype with about 80% of diagnosed breast cancers expressing ER; while overall ER+ cancers have relatively good prognosis, metastasis drives mortality, and the five-year survival for metastatic disease is around 38%.
ENP113: Clinical Practice Guideline on Central Precocious Puberty
Q: What are the guidance points regarding treatment duration and monitoring of GnRH therapy?
Initiate treatment with the formulation that will be preferred long-term, whether short-acting or long-acting, as there is no evidence favoring one strategy over the other. Monitoring should prioritize clinical assessment over routine biochemical testing, and adjunctive recombinant growth hormone therapy is not routinely recommended except in specific, individualized cases.
