Designing Ambulances Around the Realities of EMS
Q: Was there something that stuck out that said, 'oh my lord, this should be better' in your engagements with providers?
Yes. Observing medics standing and moving without buckling up initially highlighted the need for safer, more adaptable seating and restraint systems; this insight pushed us to rethink how the patient space can be navigated safely while still allowing rapid access to gear.
Happy EMS Education Day! To celebrate, Let’s Demystify the Myths Surrounding EMS Higher Ed.
Q: How can a working EMS professional balance education with shift work and family responsibilities?
The guest notes CSU programs are designed for working professionals, with eight-unit course structures, built-in flexibility, predictable timelines, a grace period for late submissions, and online access to enable study on the provider's schedule, making continued education feasible alongside demanding jobs.
Happy EMS Education Day! To celebrate, Let’s Demystify the Myths Surrounding EMS Higher Ed.
Q: What myths exist about EMS providers pursuing higher education, and how does CSU address these concerns?
The guest explains that myths around the illegitimacy or impracticality of EMS professionals pursuing higher education persist, but CSU addresses them with flexible, work-friendly programs, accelerated credit recognition for paramedic licenses, and degree pathways that align with career progression, including certificates and concentrations in relevant EMS fields.
