  • Potential

This could be a really good podcasts given the topics, insights and guests. However the podcast could benefit from the host interacting and responding the guests instead of asking what sound like pre-written questions. There is a lot to learn in the topics the guests bring up, and the host could expand on these more instead of just acknowledging them and taking notes on that. Sometimes their relation to what the guest is saying is a little odd and doesn’t speak to what their guest is talking ab... more

  • Audio Essays

I discovered Egg Shell podcasts recently, quite by accident. I found them helpful and interesting but often I was distracted by daily life or I didn’t relate to the topic of discussion. THEN I listened to one of the audio essays. The experience was so powerful - listening a voice directed to the listener as if speaking to me. I immediately grabbed my headphones so I could completely immerse myself in the wisdom and revelations you wrote in your essays. (Reading on a computer screen can not rep... more

  • Great audio essays, poor interviews

I love the audio essays, very informative and validating. The interviews are difficult to listen to, the host could be better at listening and allowing her guests to speak.

Sensory Sensitivity, Neuroplasticity, and Learning to Trust Yourself | Joey Remenyi
Q: What practical steps can someone take today to begin rebuilding trust in their body without overwhelming themselves?
Start with gentle, self-paced practices (breathing, non-demand time, grounding rituals like bone broth preparation) that honor the body's signals, gradually increasing embodied awareness and ensuring boundaries are clearly established to protect nervous system safety.
Sensory Sensitivity, Neuroplasticity, and Learning to Trust Yourself | Joey Remenyi
Q: Can you explain what misophonia and hyperacusis look like in the nervous system and how your approach helps?
She outlines the brain pathways (amygdala, insula, prefrontal cortex) and how fear responses loop when these signals are not effectively processed; her work strengthens the safety signals to prevent constant danger responses and helps people interpret eight senses more accurately.
Sensory Sensitivity, Neuroplasticity, and Learning to Trust Yourself | Joey Remenyi
Q: What moved you toward studying neuroplasticity and somatic work instead of sticking with traditional clinical practice?
Her early experience with chronic inner anxiety, yoga and Iyengar training, and observing the limitations of conventional medical approaches convinced her to pursue methods that reconnect the body with its nervous system, using neuroplasticity to reorganize sensations and reduce fear.
Dependency and Denial - with Joe Pawson
Q: What are practical steps someone can take to begin shifting from self-sufficiency toward healthier interdependence?
Start by allowing space for vulnerability in trusted relationships or therapy, observe when protective templates restrict experience, and practice reflecting back the other person's hurt to connect rather than override it.
Dependency and Denial - with Joe Pawson
Q: Can you, in your own words, describe what you meant by dependency?
Dependency is a fundamental relational stance toward others and the world, not just clinginess. It encompasses how we rely on others for daily functioning and for a sense of interconnected reality, which is often filtered through personal stories and fears of losing autonomy.
