The host is painful and should speak less. Eddie is as delusional as always and shows he’s been lucky to get as far as he has in rugby. Ewen saves the pod. He is a loss to the game in Australia and it’s great to hear his views.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Eddie Jones Sanctioned + Rampaging Red Roses, Doping Bans, URC & Super Rugby Action!
Q: Do you think the World Cup final should always be played in the largest stadium available, or should logistics and context dictate the venue?
Logistics and commercial considerations matter as much as capacity. The big stadiums attract fans but must be logistically viable and commercially sensible, with venue access and scheduling also playing critical roles.
Building Rugby World Cup 2027 with Chris Stanley
Q: What is being done to ensure readiness amid global uncertainties?
We use pragmatic scenario planning, including lessons from past world events, to define decision points, maintain life safety as the priority, and keep preparations flexible so we can adapt as needed.
Building Rugby World Cup 2027 with Chris Stanley
Q: How is the ticketing strategy designed to remain accessible while maximizing revenue?
The pricing starts at $40 for adults, with many tickets under $100 and standing-room options in some venues; a ballot system for oversubscribed matches ensures fair access while premium seats sustain revenues essential for the sport.
Building Rugby World Cup 2027 with Chris Stanley
Q: What makes Rugby World Cup 2027 in Australia a once-in-a-generation event?
Australia offers a combination of premier venues, strong tourism partnerships, and a rugby-loving population that can support a festival-like World Cup experience, making it uniquely local yet globally engaging.
Eddie Jones on Rugby Australia’s $70.6m Surplus
Q: What are your thoughts on a potential American Super Rugby team and a Japanese team being added to the competition, and how would that be funded?
Such expansion could boost television revenue but requires a benefactor willing to absorb large annual losses and a compelling, well‑structured financial model to attract broadcast partners. Without robust funding and a clear TV deal, it risks failing to deliver the required financial catalysts for the tournament.
