  • WONDERFUL

I’ve been a fan of Ryan’s dry, snappy and well thought out broadcasts for the past few years. When Kate Hawksby left I couldn’t imagine who could possibly follow, but by god Ryan’s done it!

He presents the facts, asks the questions we all want answered and is relentless in his approach. Couldn’t imagine a better result.

  • Leaning

This station certainly leans to the ‘right’ in this weird woke world. But that’s obvious and god knows we need something to balance out the bias in the other direction.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Simon Parham: Waitomo CEO on the fuel supply, Government's deal with Z Energy to store extra diesel at Marsden Point
Q: How does this move affect the market going forward?
The guest highlights that the market is rebalancing, with signals like backwardation and cross-border crude movements showing the system self-correcting to ensure liquidity and reliability.
Simon Parham: Waitomo CEO on the fuel supply, Government's deal with Z Energy to store extra diesel at Marsden Point
Q: Will we need it? Will there be product unavailable? Or will prices be so prohibitive that truckies can't get around?
The guest believes there will be product available and that price dynamics will dampen demand at high levels, with hedging and stock management reducing the risk of shortages.
Simon Parham: Waitomo CEO on the fuel supply, Government's deal with Z Energy to store extra diesel at Marsden Point
Q: Sensbile thing to do?
The guest argues it's prudent: the storage acts as a buffer and provides flexibility if cargo deliveries are delayed, signaling confidence in supply and market resilience.
Brad Olsen: Infometrics Principal Economist on the Treasury revising economic forecasts ahead of the Budget
Q: Brad, good morning. What are the three scenarios and which is most likely to eventuate?
The most likely scenario is the least bad one, but it remains uncertain because crude oil prices and global conditions can move. The Treasury simulations consider different oil price paths, with the best-case still not a strong outcome; the worst-case remains unlikely but would require significant changes if it persisted. Overall, the Treasury will remain cautious, balancing potential revenue changes with the need for possible support measures.
Simon Wallace: Aviation Industry Association CEO on the government's new aviation plan
Q: Like what needs to be done more quickly?
Simon Wallace outlines priorities including accelerating pilot training modernization, streamlining licensing processes, and establishing clear competency requirements for agricultural drone operators, while ensuring safety and environmental safeguards.
