  • Phenomenal podcast

Came across Dave’s replays on YouTube and was blown away by his professionalism and level of commitment. Then I found this podcast. When I was seven I Started playing a game called dice baseball that my dad claimed he invented with a friend. No charts or anything. Just two dice 1-1 ground out 2-1 fly out or sacrifice 3-1 single etc. Then graduated to APBA baseball in the late 70s. Point is I’ve been playing sports simulations basically my whole life. This podcast will take you back to tho... more

Digital to Dice ep 303: Dave Little talks playing lesser known sports
Q: What makes a hockey game feel complete—full play or highlights?
He notes that highlights give a complete game-feel in about 20 minutes and provide satisfaction with stats, while full games are more intense and slower, offering a different kind of immersion and decision-making depth.
Digital to Dice ep 303: Dave Little talks playing lesser known sports
Q: Which hockey titles did you start with, and how did the project evolve?
He started with Stone Cold Hockey, then added 49 Quick Decks via a prize win, and used those to shape a Swiss-style tournament with 32 teams over five games per round, culminating in an 80-game project.
Digital to Dice ep 303: Dave Little talks playing lesser known sports
Q: What was it about playing a lesser known game like hockey that appealed to you?
The guest explains that there is a strong passion for hockey in the gaming community, and playing a hockey-focused title helps him engage with the sport more deeply by exploring how the game translates real-player dynamics into tabletop mechanics.
Digital to Dice ep 301: Replay Gamer Talks Finding New Games
Q: If you could go back in time and attend any sporting event at all, even when you've already been to, what event would that be?
I think it would be opening day 1953, Milwaukee Braves, their first game in Milwaukee.
Digital to Dice ep 297: What is Fictional Gaming ?
Q: How do you think it would go over if Strat or APPA baseball put out a fictional season?
I don't think it would go over well with the purists who prefer traditional replay games, as they might be resistant to fictional elements.
