  • Great show with range of topics in the industry

Really enjoyed the episode with Makor CEO, Brooke Bibeault. I came across your show on a link she shared. Great episode. Have it on my driving playlist to listen to more episodes in the future.

  • Informative podcast but the host needs to use a or headphone

Sound quality from the host is poor. Sounds like he is streaming on a Nokia 3210. If he got a standard pair of headphones it would even be much better.

But an enjoyable podcast otherwise with informed guests!

  • Highly recommend!

I left a career in exploration geology about 3 years ago after moving back to the U.K. from Australia but Rob's excellent podcast really makes me miss the industry! I highly recommend this podcast for graduates and established mining professionals alike.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Bespoke Anode Materials and the Reality of Critical Mineral Supply Chains with Matthieu Bos
Q: Why did you choose Morocco for anode materials, and what permitting challenges do you face?
He explains Morocco's strategic location with access to US and European markets, supportive government, and green energy; highlights free trade with US and Europe as critical, plus feedstock from hydrofluoric acid synergy; discusses permitting challenges as part of building a new materials processing operation in a foreign jurisdiction.
Bespoke Anode Materials and the Reality of Critical Mineral Supply Chains with Matthieu Bos
Q: Can you tell us about your career path and how you arrived at Falcon Energy Materials?
Boss describes his background as a mining engineer/metallurgist who moved into finance with BMO Capital Markets, worked on Ivanhoe Mines IPO, then regrouped with colleagues to form or join Falcon Energy Materials; emphasizes building confidence through a strong board and capable team rather than a big fund, and the transition from mining into battery materials through Falcon.
Scaling the Heights of Copper-Gold Porphyries with Torr Metals
Q: Filion seems to complement Kolos within a broader strategy. What's the core geological thesis behind Filion and where do you see the biggest risks in that model?
Filion targets an underexplored Greenstone Belt with high-grade surface gold, leveraging boundary structures and geophysical signatures similar to larger discoveries in the region, while the biggest risks lie in transitioning from historical trench data to a defined, drill-ready target and ensuring robust structural controls to interpret potential extensions.
Scaling the Heights of Copper-Gold Porphyries with Torr Metals
Q: Looking at Kolos today, what are the key technical gaps you still need to close to move it from pre-discovery to discovery?
The main gaps involve linking the hydrothermal system to a defined intrusive source, understanding the geometry and orientation of the system, and identifying how the various zones could cohere into a district-scale, repeatable model that majors would consider for near-term feed.
Building a Copper Legacy: The IPO Journey of Kaoko Metals
Q: Before we obviously speak about the projects, and obviously you mentioned about IPO in last week, why IPO accompanied with obviously new assets over other routes to market?
The guest explains that an IPO provides a designed structure with a controlled registry, escrowed shares to align interests, and a transparent vehicle for capital markets. It also offers a cleaner slate for investors, avoids legacy shareholder baggage sometimes associated with reverse takeovers, and can deliver liquidity and governance that fits an early-stage exploration company aiming to scale through drilling.
