So it's come to this: The end of Dial M For Maple. Though Riverdale's fifth season returns this week from its extended hiatus, our humble podcast has reached a point where it's no longer sustainable for us to keep going on a weekly basis. We've so en... more
Is it the maple mushrooms talking, or was that an especially trippy episode of Riverdale? Though it feels like season five’s post-time jump plots were just heating up, the show sends us off on hiatus with “The Pincushion Man,” one hell of a mid-seaso... more
Between a long-awaited emotional arc for Kevin Keller and a surprise “Stupid Love” performance by Cheryl Blossom and the River Vixens, it seems this episode of Riverdale was hoping to give they gays everything they want. Unfortunately, “Destroyer” mi... more
Are key parties still a thing? They are in Riverdale, or at least in Cheryl Blossom’s twisted imagination, where she’s concocted a plan to throw Toni, Kevin, and Fangs’ modern family into chaos. But when she invites this semi-estranged group of frien... more
The Mothman cometh! Well, eventually. But until then, Riverdale seems to be spinning its wheels in “Fire In The Sky,” an episode largely muddled in busy work with just enough teases of the paranormal to leave us intrigued. Archie’s on another crusade... more
Now that our (former) teen heroes of Riverdale are settled back into their lives in the (former) Town With Pep, the show’s fifth season begins to set the table for the mysteries to come. There are skeevy truckers, estranged husbands, mothmen aliens, ... more
If you thought Riverdale’s seven-year time jump meant the end of high school drama, you were dead wrong. But, as this week’s episode “Homecoming” proves, that’s not such a bad thing. The CW series dives into—with gleeful abandon—the messy world of sm... more
So much and yet so little has changed in a week—er, seven years in Riverdale time. After tying up the loose ends of high school and season four, the drama finally makes its highly anticipated time jump in “Purgatorio,” catching us up on the adult liv... more
Great
I’ve only listened to a handful of episodes, but I’m not too impressed. I’ve found a lot of their views of an episode to be inaccurate or they totally miss something and then question why it didn’t happen. I feel they push their opinions too much about somethings as well. I’m going to give a few more episodes a try, but as much as I absolutely LOVE Riverdale, I don’t see myself getting hooked on this podcast.
I listen to every ep do you know what I mean?? (That’s what Mara says and I enjoy that.) Love to you both
love this pod.
recently it seems like there is some audio imbalance though. marah and cameron are way quieter than the ads and overall sound quieter than most podcasts
No one I know watches Riverdale as religiously as I do so I am so happy this podcast exists! I’m almost more excited every week to listen to the podcast than to watch the show. I love the way Mara and Cameron walk through the show as well as the other segments. It’s a lot of fun and one of my favorite parts of being a Riverdale fan! Highly recommend
I’ve resisted writing a review for about two years now, I suppose, since I’ve been listening since their first episode. But they deserve better from me! I look forward to every new episode of Riverdale itself, of course, but part of that excitement comes from knowing there will be a new ep of Dial M for Maple. Cameron and Mara are enthusiastic, funny, and knowledgeable hosts, who clearly enjoy Riverdale and *talking about* Riverdale.
Love this pod except for hearing “you know what I mean?” every 5 seconds dear god please make it stop.
When none of your friends want to discuss in depth this week’s Riverdale episode...turn to Dial M for Maple. Their discussions are thoughtful and go further than just the plot. Side note, I could listen to these two talk about anything. A+
I cannot get enough of Dial M for Maple! I wish I had found it sooner. For me, just watching an episode of Riverdale is never enough. This podcast is the perfect follow-up to a new episode (especially if you don’t have anyone to talk about this stuff with irl!) It has everything that a fan of the show could want, including episode recap + discussion, fan theories, and cast updates. Everything is done with just the right balance of humor and thoughtfulness by the wonderful hosts Mara and Cameron.... more
honestly, my riverdale watching experience is incomplete without this podcast! I love that this is a podcast which doesnt accept every episode at face value and actually has opinions about the show; i think marah and cameron share my view that riverdale is a show with many faces, (dumb, campy, whimsical, the Mob, to name just a few), and it should be appreciated as such. keep up the awesome work guys!!
If you ever wanna make a drinking game out of how many times “You know what I mean?” is said, you will be OBLITERATED by the end of the podcast.
Other than constantly hearing that, the podcast is great :)
I’ve always loved the AV Clubs recaps and am so happy this podcasts exists. Marah and Cameron are so insightful and fun. I look forward to listening every week after Riverdale - sometimes I even enjoy the podcast more than the show!
Sufficient coverage on nana rose. Like the way Marah and Cameron have a love/hate relationship with the show (as do we all) and break down the episodes clearly with much dry humour.
I love your podcast.
ok look. i’ve tried to get into this podcast so many times; every time i think i’m done, i foolishly give it another chance. the hosts are boring, but even worse than that, they sound so bored by RIVERDALE, which is ostensibly something they should be excited about. instead of actually offering analysis or theories, they play clips from the show that don’t push their ideas further. i know i sound harsh, and i’m sorry for that, but i would happily take a fraction of the money they’re paid and do ... more
