  • Good content let down by awkward commercial cuts

It’s a good show. I like the content and the hosts. I get that commercials are a thing and I’m not complaining that they exist. Just that in this podcast they can start anywhere, including the middle of a sentence. One time you said “let’s check out this sonic game” and it cut to a sonic detective podcast commercial which was extra confusing. If you guys can tighten up the commercial transitions I would have no hesitations giving 5 stars.

  • It’s good, but…

…the content is great, and the hosts are knowledgeable, but episodes tend to go on for a little too long. Also, Triforce needs to calm TF down. My ears can only take so much.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

DF Retro Super Show #019: Wild Blue Skies And Its Rail Shooter Lineage
Q: How does Wild Blue Skies approach audio and music in relation to gameplay?
The project settled on straight, level-wide music tracks after exploring more dynamic stem-based integration; the composer contributed grand, cinematic pieces that complement the levels without overwhelming the on-screen action.
DF Retro Super Show #019: Wild Blue Skies And Its Rail Shooter Lineage
Q: Why did you choose to keep the gameplay focused on flight rather than adding multiple vehicle types?
The team's priority was to ensure the flight controls and camera feel tight and polished; adding a ground vehicle would have required a lot of extra development and risk diluting the effect, so they pursued a strong, single-vehicle experience with refined controls.
DF Retro Super Show #019: Wild Blue Skies And Its Rail Shooter Lineage
Q: What was the guiding principle behind the camera and level design for a modern rail shooter like Wild Blue Skies?
We started with the core feel of the classic games—cinematic framing and readable encounters—and then dialed the draw distance down to prevent distractions and to keep enemy patterns surprising and immediate, which also echoes the old hardware limitations in a respectful homage.
DF Retro Super Show #018: The Rise of Evercade and the History of Physical Games
Q: So before we go through the history, what sparked Evercade's idea of building a new cartridge-based system in a modern era?
Sean explains that the drive was to create a tangible, affordable way to experience retro and indie games, leveraging cartridge hardware to solve issues like discovery, licensing, and cost while preserving the memory and social aspects of gaming.
DF Retro Super Show #011 - The Big Q+A Special - Holy Grail Games, Arcade Hardware, Sega CD + More!
Q: If you could pick any game to get a demake, what would it be and what retro system would you want it on?
The panel skews toward original Game Boy aesthetics for its unique limited-color magic, with suggestions including remaking Kirby platformers in Game Boy style or reimagining Donkey Kong 94 on Game Boy. They also consider Monster Boy, Shantae on Mega Drive, and other 8- or 16-bit era vibes, highlighting the charm of pre-rendered assets and era-specific visual language.
