Thoroughly enjoyed listening to part 1 of Rangan and Nagesh’s journey. Looking forward to the next episode. We have been living in the US since 2007 and I’m now working on a plan to transition to both financial independence and ability to split time between US and India. These episodes have been encouraging and insightful. Thanks for doing this.

3 Essential Factors for Returning NRIs to Choose the RIGHT School
Q: How should parents think about choosing between CBSE, IB, and Cambridge when their child will study in India and possibly abroad later?
CBSE offers a highly structured, exam-oriented pathway with clear alignment to Indian entrance exams, which can make it easier for students who plan to stay in India for higher education. IB emphasizes holistic development and global recognition, which benefits students aiming for overseas universities, though it may require extra preparation for Indian entrance exams. Cambridge/IGCSE sits between these, offering flexibility but needing additional preparation for Indian entrance exams. The best choice depends on the child's needs, future study plans, and how comfortable the family is with dynamic, teacher-driven delivery versus a fixed syllabus.
Do I Regret Moving Back to India? 10 Years in India and Back to US
Q: What is your biggest takeaway for families considering a similar move?
First understand your strong why, then do thorough research on boards and schools, be prepared to adapt (even switching schools if needed), and create a supportive environment that prioritizes children's well-being and family unity.
Do I Regret Moving Back to India? 10 Years in India and Back to US
Q: How did you handle schooling for your children during the transition?
They initially faced homeschooling challenges in the US, which led to a shift to Indian CBSE schooling upon return, complemented by language tutoring (Hindi) and extracurriculars to bridge gaps and ensure social development.
Do I Regret Moving Back to India? 10 Years in India and Back to US
Q: What prompted the move back to India after a decade in the US?
The move was motivated by a combination of watching the elder son's IIT/JEE journey, the younger son's interest in non-traditional paths like robotics, and a desire for both children to access Indian higher education opportunities, while also leveraging family support and a stable home base in India.
Are You Aware of the KEY OCI Mistakes NRIs Make?
Q: What should listeners know about updating OCI after passport renewal for someone who is now an adult?
OCI requires a one-time renewal/update at age 21; the process is online, free, and quick, but you must ensure you update the passport information and proceed with the new photo/signature if needed.
