Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Sky Co-founder: The Next Era of Onchain Finance Is Coming
Q: Yeah, where do we start here? Could you share your perspective on the exploit and its immediate reflections?
The attack was shocking and deep, involving off-chain infrastructure and suboptimal smart contract configurations, underscoring the need for heightened security and rapid, coordinated responses across protocols.
Rob Hadick: Where Does DeFi Go From Here? (…And Why)
Q: How do you see the future balance between decentralized and centralized approaches in on-chain finance?
He predicts a continued split: permissionless DeFi remains for open experimentation and rapid innovation, while institutional actors will demand segregated, compliant-feeling markets with stronger controls. Centralized practices and KYC-like endpoints will coexist with permissionless protocols, creating a bifurcated but complementary landscape.
Rob Hadick: Where Does DeFi Go From Here? (…And Why)
Q: What fundamental changes do you think are needed to prevent large-scale exploits in DeFi going forward?
The guest emphasizes the need for rate limits, clearer risk disclosure, independent risk reviews, and a shift toward more disciplined, risk-aware practices among teams, including better security postures and governance. He argues that adoption by traditional finance will push these guardrails and help align incentives with safety, reducing the likelihood of catastrophic losses.
How Digital Assets Incentives Are Solving the Robotics Data Problem
Q: What is the end-game for agentic GDP and how might robots participate financially in the economy?
The end-game envisions a fully coordinated network of autonomous agents and robots that transact across a payment rail, with on-chain escrow and smart contracts enabling micro-accords for delivery of goods and services, leading to a measurable GDP contribution from machine-to-machine commerce.
Vladimir Novakovski on Why Lighter Is Built for the Future of Finance
Q: What role will decentralization of the sequencer play in the near term vs. the long term?
Vlad indicates decentralization is on the roadmap but not the current priority; in the near term the focus is on liquidity, asset expansion, and stable operations, with decentralization becoming more feasible and valuable as the ecosystem matures.
