  • During a time of crisis, I came across what I thought was a legitimate charity online. They had a professional-looking website, emotional stories, and even testimonials from supposed donors. They claimed the funds were being used to support families in need, and it really tugged at my heart. I made a donation, then another, and soon after they kept reaching out with urgent appeals. Every message made me feel like I was directly helping vulnerable people, so I gave more than I could really afford... more

  • I've been investing for years, both in traditional markets and in crypto. I always considered myself smart enough to spot red flags, but the truth is, even experienced investors can fall victim to the right scam. That's exactly what happened to me. The platform I dealt with looked professional in every way. They had a sleek website, convincing support staff, and even showed me trading dashboards that looked legitimate. I tested them with a smaller deposit and was even able to withdraw at first. ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Chopping Block: Wind Downs, YC's Nemil Dalal, & Will Every Failed Crypto Idea Eventually Work?
Q: What do you think YC looks for in the why-now framework when evaluating crypto ideas?
YC focuses on whether there is a real problem to solve, a viable path to adoption, and the ability to partner with traditional institutions; the emphasis is on practical infrastructure building and staying away from hype, with a preference for solutions that can scale through enterprise or developer ecosystems.
The Chopping Block: Wind Downs, YC's Nemil Dalal, & Will Every Failed Crypto Idea Eventually Work?
Q: Nemil, how do you react to this moment in the headlines and the wave of wind-downs and regulatory shifts?
I remain bullish overall, noting that much of what's happening is a sign of maturation: trading products are being adopted widely, labs are clarifying governance tokens, and institutions are increasingly engaging with crypto infrastructure even if consumer-facing products aren't taking off as fast as hoped.
Has Control Replaced Decentralization as DeFi's Legal Test? - DEX in the City
Q: How should we read Commissioner Peirce's statement on DeFi lending and vaults?
The guest reads it as a warning shot and a call to engage with regulators to educate them on the vault ecosystem, emphasizing the vault supply chain (development, curation, administration) and the potential securities considerations tied to vault tokens and on-chain lending.
Has Control Replaced Decentralization as DeFi's Legal Test? - DEX in the City
Q: Do you want to start with a clarity update?
Salman Banaei provides a detailed update on how Democrats and staff are approaching clarity, the ethics language, and the expected role of state attorney general authority as a check on DOJ enforcement, highlighting a positive but cautious outlook with ongoing negotiations.
Bits + Bips: Why Bitcoin Has the Least to Gain From the Clarity Act
Q: Do you anticipate big volatility into year-end, and how might that affect your models and outlook?
Models suggest moderate volatility with potential upside movement given macro conditions and ongoing regulatory developments, particularly around tokenization infrastructure and major smart contract ecosystems.
