  • When do they Debate?

This is like listening to an political science undergrad reading their papers aloud. There is no debate, and it is over-structured. It’s a shame.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

New Labour, New Britain? w/ Glen O'Hara
Q: What should readers take away from the book about Blair and New Labour?
Readers should come away with a nuanced view that, despite Iraq and other controversies, New Labour delivered tangible improvements in public services and social policy, and that future leaders can learn from Blair's strategic storytelling and coalition-building while charting their own modern path.
New Labour, New Britain? w/ Glen O'Hara
Q: Why focus on domestic policy rather than foreign policy when discussing New Labour?
Because the domestic agenda—health, education, crime, and public services—constituted the core voter-facing achievements and shaped the day-to-day lived experience of people, which is what voters remember, whereas foreign policy often overshadowed these gifts and complexities post-9/11.
New Labour, New Britain? w/ Glen O'Hara
Q: Why did you decide to write this book at this particular moment?
The author explains it originated from personal experience and a scholarly curiosity to dissect Labour's policies, while also recognizing how ongoing debates within the party—especially between Blair and Brown—offered a timely opportunity to understand policy outcomes and political dynamics.
Labour's NEC and Restoration w/ Stella Tsantekidou
Q: What is the main reason you are standing for the NEC with the Restoration slate?
To push for greater accountability, to bring blue-collar workers into Parliament, and to ensure the party represents working people beyond elite networks, while offering a constructive counterbalance to leadership decisions.
British By Elections w/ Michael Mullaney
Q: What do you think is the most significant by-election ever, and why?
Newport 1922 stands out as highly significant because it influenced Conservative confidence before a pivotal party meeting and helped set the stage for the post-war political realignment; it demonstrated how a single by-election can have outsized national impact.
