There’s a handful of different podcasts I listen to regularly with hosts and topics I like. What keeps me coming back to Dark Poutine is the sincerity, reverence and humble attitude that emanate from both Mike and Matthew when discussing true crime, with some appropriate and well timed humour thrown. A well researched podcast delivered with the same comfort you’d have listening to a friend over a hot drink at your local coffee shop. Well done!
An entertaining retelling of true Canadian crime stories. Mild humour without poking fun at any victims of crime. I am only on episode four, but I’m going to listen to every one. To all those involved in the production of this podcast, keep up the great work.
Update: I’m now only two episodes away from the whole library for Dark Poutine’s true crime stories. Top notch show!
But Mathew’s smug mansplaining interjections make us want to skip the eps more often than not these days. Still love Mike!
I used to enjoy this podcast but it became less about facts and more personal views that turned me off. Granted they express in their opening line that they express personal opinions which I respect. I am happy for their successful podcast, it’s just no longer for me.
Just found this podcast, amazing don’t know how I missed it for so long.

Two Canadian hosts blend deep dives into true crime with Canadian history, legal proceedings, and cultural lore. Episodes frequently cover high-profile cases, cold-case investigations, forensic details, and courtroom developments, all through a narrative, conversation-driven style that balances factual analysis with personable banter. A notable angle is the strong emphasis on Canadian law, regional history, and socially conscious commentary, which can appeal to listeners who enjoy rigorous storytelling with a local lens. The show stands out for its sustained focus on Canadian cases and historical events, plus a mix of somber storytelling and accessible humor that helps audiences stay engaged through complex topics.
