When Sarah watched her 23 year old daughter cycle away from her in Chelsea - a well-off corner of London - she had no idea it would be the last time they’d see each other for 6 years. What would make a loving child from a life of privilege sever ties with friends and family, and disappear?

Great story, well told and super interesting. Thanks for putting together an excellent pod!
It is clear that the narrator’s unresolved fascination with Ann relates to her own unconscious interest in her horrifically sexist attitudes toward men. It’s unfortunate that she doesn’t seem to have grown emotionally or mentally through this journey to a point where she can honestly assess them. She is still resolutely committed to the heteronormative, gynocentric mythologies in the final episode that she expressed at the series’ outset. She remains steadfastly resistant to considering the pos... more
This was a brilliant and sensitively made investigative podcast. How awful that people can manipulate those who trusted them to help. Anne Craig should have given her side of the story and her failure to do so speaks volumes. What courage from the women who were manipulated and the families who stood by and never gave up.
So interesting and informative of how all sorts of people can fall victim to coercive control
Completely compelling story - well done to the team and the woman and families on getting out.
How is there not more regulation?
