  • Hit and Miss

The points raised are often spot on and insightful, but the host has a “1930’s baseball announcer” affectation which will drive you absolutely nuts.

  • Ben and Jerry

Haha he sounds extremely ignorant. He sold it thinking the corporations would respect the values, but he also says they don’t know values. He says he was “forced” to sell, I bet he didn’t pull out all of the stops. He didn’t mortgage his livelihood and future (built by the company) to save the company. Big talk, little walk.

  • Well written, poorly delivered

Well written but the guy who does the podcast sounds like he’s doing satire – indeed, a parody of himself. Hard to take this podcast seriously.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Norman Finkelstein on the Insane Racism of Israeli Society and the Plan to Erase Gaza
Q: How should we understand historical analogies, like the American South or Native American histories, in discussing Israel and Gaza?
Historical analogies are used to illuminate patterns of dehumanization and violent policy outcomes, but they are not exact parallels; they serve to highlight moral and systemic continuities across different moments and places.
Norman Finkelstein on the Insane Racism of Israeli Society and the Plan to Erase Gaza
Q: What is the viability of a two-state solution versus a one-state or no-state framework in the current context?
The guest maintains a consistent skepticism toward both entrenched two-state and one-state models, advocating a more universal, non-racial framework while recognizing the political impracticalities and power realities that make a simple resolution difficult.
Norman Finkelstein on the Insane Racism of Israeli Society and the Plan to Erase Gaza
Q: Was the plan to expand control over Gaza a deliberate long-term goal, or a reaction to events after October 7?
The discussion suggests a long-standing pattern of goal-setting and policy framing that predates October 7, with shifts in emphasis after that date, from periodic 'mowings the lawn' to attempting to empty Gaza of its population.
The Heinous Evil of Cutting USAID
Q: What moral or procedural lessons does this episode offer for civil servants?
Civil servants must remember their oath, document everything, and speak up when directives conflict with law or ethics; if they cannot act in good conscience, they should warn the public and seek accountability, even at personal or professional risk.
The Heinous Evil of Cutting USAID
Q: How did you come to work at USAID, and what did your role entail before the dismantlement?
I was the Director of Policy Programs and Planning for Global Health, focusing on efficient use of taxpayer dollars to improve global health outcomes and keep Americans safe from infectious diseases, with a background in law guiding the funding and audit processes.
