A truly engaging, at times quirky, always intelligent yet accessible gate to broadening one’s horizon in culture and arts. Must surely be one of the best quality shows on Irish Radio and easily takes the crown in the field of the arts.

  • RTE's Culture File

Anyone interested in the arts, should subscribe to RTE's Culture File. It's a fantastic podcast that's not too hung up on all the mainstream cinema releases and book launches. While most other arts shows are interchangeable, this one has a character of it's own. The presenter (who's amazing by the way) uncovers all sorts of unusual events and happenings on the Irish arts scene. And yet, there's always an international angle so really anyone from anywhere can enjoy it. Thanks for this iTunes.... more

Culture File Digital Single: What's Up With Tracey?
Q: Do you think the Tate Modern's curation reinforces or challenges the idea of Emin's work as autofiction?
The discussion suggests the museum both canonizes and historicizes Emin, using a retrospective structure that can be seen as conservative, yet the inclusion of newer works and video elements offers space for ongoing personal storytelling.
Culture File Digital Single: What's Up With Tracey?
Q: What was your favorite piece in the show, and why?
Orit describes a Margate room with a large wood sculpture and a two-minute video of Tracey as a young woman, followed by a room focusing on her life after cancer; she highlights the balance between personal memory and artistic production as her favorite arrangement because it mingles personal history with ongoing creation.
Neu!: with Eleanor Myler
Q: Is there a musical genre that seems ludicrous?
Eleanor expresses that she enjoys experimentation and doesn't think any genre should not exist, but recalls the inoffensive nature of Schlager music and its Nazi undertones.
Culture File | Schaymon Draymon's House of Hibernia, Cecilia Danell's sylvan scifi, The Natural History of Selborne
Q: Can you tell me more about psychogeography?
Cecilia explains that psychogeographers in the 1800s in Paris wandered the streets to experience unexpected encounters and used those insights for art and writing.
Culture File Presents: The Comfort Zone Extra
Q: But I must say, I'm now living with some huge intervals for 10 years here. And I must say, I like the city a lot.
Sartorius expresses a deep appreciation for the city of Syracuse, acknowledging the changes it has undergone due to increased tourism.
