  • Turn up the volume!

I really like this podcast! I just wish I could actually hear it. The level at which this show is recorded (Mastered? Edited? I’m obviously not an expert) is so low, that even when I crank my car’s speaker up to the max volume of 45, I have to strain to hear it. All of my other podcasts are easily audible with the volume around 25. And listening to this through my earbuds while working in my loud print department is an absolute impossibility (again, not an issue with any of my other podcasts). I... more

  • No Cole Wright

It’s Anthony Rizzo Day and the podcast about it is Cubs Postgame Live? How about Alex Cohen, Andy Martinez or even Tom Prizeman? I watch all the games and never watch pre- or postgame because I quickly tire of Cole’s schtick of catch phrases and nicknames. You can do better -please do. Don’t use Lance being off to be lame. If you want to do a daily podcast, commit to it.

  • More game talk please

I appreciate the analysis Lance does but I miss the chat about the players and actual games. A daily show should be able to spend at least a few minutes on that. Two of the Mets games weren’t on Marquee, Horton debuts and you use prerecorded content? Lazy and lame.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Anniversary of Kerry Wood's 20 Strikeout Game | Cubs Now
Q: Talk me through the breaking balls in particular, how you gripped them, your cues, mentality around them, because they were incredibly effective pitches.
Wood explains the fastball's backspin and life, then describes choking the curve as a kid, the balance between grip, release, and the decision to use breaking balls strategically in late counts or specific counts; he emphasizes feel, repetition, and adjusting mechanics to keep hitters off balance.
ELISE MENAKER: Charting a New Course to the Sports Desk
Q: How has your softball background influenced the way you broadcast and report on games?
Her softball experience helps her translate numbers and analytics into accessible storytelling, and it guides her on how to relate to players and fans by focusing on process, discipline, and the human side of the game.
ELISE MENAKER: Charting a New Course to the Sports Desk
Q: What was your welcome-to-the-big-leagues moment, and how did it shape your career?
The moment traveling with the Cubs to Los Angeles and covering a combined no-hitter, plus interviewing Champ Peterson, felt like a tangible entry into the big leagues and reinforced that she could contribute meaningfully beyond local stories.
Jon Sciambi Interview
Q: What offensive metric would you point to as predicate of success for a team, and what should a pitcher be evaluated on to judge their effectiveness?
On-base percentage remains foundational because getting batters on base is the objective behind most offensive success, while for pitchers, walks, strikeouts, and home runs allowed are the controllable elements to monitor, with defensive context also influencing how those stats play out.
Jon Sciambi Interview
Q: Okay. So my question for you is, why can this Cubs team be different than all other teams? What's the X factor there for them?
There isn't a single X factor; if anything, a combination of elite offense, strong defense, and players increasing in performance — possibly accelerated by how Moe has developed into a big-league contributor — could make this group special, with luck and some overperformance helping too.
