  • Great premise, fun discussions

Randomly found this podcast from a youtube short with Coady Willis. Started listening just to find that Ep, but enjoyed it so much i started from the 1st episode and am working my way through all of them. Host has a great attitude, guests are interesting (never knew Stephen Bissette was such a knowledgeable and entertaining guy), musicians, comic creators, lots of creative folks. • Where’s my Grave Digger Pin?!?!

Erik Hanson is hands down the best horror podcaster recording today. He gets the best out of his guests with his funny, laid back, insanely well versed approach to horror movies. I eagerly wait on the new episodes and they always deliver.

  • A novel conceit

Maybe the idea of a year-by-year deep dive into horror films have been tackled before, but as I’ve never encountered them I found the conceit interesting. I’m looking forward to more installments and hoping that some of my more obscure favorites get reviewed.

BEST OF EPISODE: ZOMBIE 2 (1979) with Mike Muncer
Q: Mike, when did it all start for you in the horror genre?
Mike traces his love for horror back to Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' video and then watching Wes Craven's 'Scream' as a child, which sparked his obsession with the genre.
BEST OF EPISODE: THE SHINING (1980) with Will Johnson
Q: Are you a fan of horror movies, Will? Do you like the horror genre?
I definitely am. My wife is probably a bigger fan and better authority than I could ever hope to be on the genre.
BEST OF EPISODE: ALICE SWEET ALICE (1976) with Becky Darke
Q: What's your final word on Alice Sweet Alice?
It's a disturbing, high-quality movie that deserves recognition; I could talk about it forever.
BEST OF EPISODE: ALICE SWEET ALICE (1976) with Becky Darke
Q: What do you think about all the Catholic imagery and the film's critique of the Catholic Church?
It's fascinating and effective. The film offers a scathing commentary on the Catholic Church through its narrative and character motivations.
BEST OF EPISODE: ALICE SWEET ALICE (1976) with Becky Darke
Q: What do you love about Alice Sweet Alice?
It has an extremely iconic killer look and is quite brutal, making it one of my absolute favorite slashers.
