  • Overall, good show, however…

…some objectivity lost on the MAGA Red Wave show. The host and guest got very upset with the talk of deportations and the loss of a workforce. Getting rid of illegals affecting the price of things… so as long as you get your cheap services and cheap labour, often trafficked and exploited, that’s okay to have illegals? Wait and see.

Generally, a good show with objectivity and common sense. Despite the above episode losing some of that - yep, discussed the negatives of the Democrats, but not wit... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#486 - Adventures in the Louvre: A Dialogue with Elaine Sciolino
Q: What should returning visitors focus on beyond the Mona Lisa?
Delve into the Richelieu wing for ancient Persian and Mesopotamian collections, explore less crowded rooms to experience a more intimate encounter with the art, and check out the in-house commentary on underrepresented artists, particularly women, to gain new perspectives.
#486 - Adventures in the Louvre: A Dialogue with Elaine Sciolino
Q: What advice would you give a first-time Louvre visitor?
Plan to visit with a flexible strategy, don't rely on the chaotic map, allocate time to explore the Persian/Mesopotamian wings, and consider using the Amie du Louvre membership for easier access on future trips.
#487 - In Praise of Addiction: A Dialogue with Elizabeth F. S. Roberts
Q: What do you see as the core distinction between addiction and dependency, and why is there such disagreement about these terms?
She argues that the boundary between addiction and dependency is culturally and historically contingent, stressing that problems arise when dependences strip away autonomy, and that rethinking these terms can reduce stigma and open up healthier, more contextual approaches.
#487 - In Praise of Addiction: A Dialogue with Elizabeth F. S. Roberts
Q: Before we dive in, could you tell listeners a bit about who you are and how you came to write this book?
Elizabeth explains her role as a university professor researching environmental health, her fieldwork in Mexico City, and how those experiences shaped her approach to addiction, leading to her focus on interdependence and the social meanings of substances.
#482 - Gender/Sex and Sexual Configurations Theory: A Dialogue with Sari van Anders
Q: How has the reception of SCT evolved from the initial publications to today, and what are your observations about its impact outside academia?
Academic reception has been mixed, with more enthusiasm from clinicians and the public; the theory has inspired translations, practical materials for clinicians and educators, and emotional resonance for people who see themselves reflected in science.
