This podcast provides so much insight into politics and culture in the Middle East. Dean brings so much valuable perspective on how these conflicts originate. Small and Dean work really well together.
The interview with Hussein Mansour on Third Worldism was brilliant. More of these voices please.
"In Bosnia, Dean was part of the Bosnian mujahideen Brigade who captured and killed some 50 prisoners following the Battle for Vozuća, abusing, torturing, stabbing and ritually beheading some of the prisoners."
I’ve listened to this show for a while now but I really found Thomas in the Christmas special rude, condescending and arrogant. This dude literally laughed at Aimen’s telling of the nativity scene, briefly argued about the Quran’s storytelling and how that disproves it somehow, and then called the Islamic version of the antichrist wacky and laughed at it. Extremely lightening on the person this guy really is.
This is some of the best journalism, audio, and storytelling I’ve come across. During siege of Afrin episode, when the guest is recounting their escape from Syria, only to lose their father not long after, quietly utters, “and this is the day I became a man,” my heart cracked open. Goodness what a show.
