  • Augsburg #27

I heartily disagree with Pastor Flamme on his portrayal of the Sons of Solomon. Based on his invective, we shouldn’t pray the Psalter each day - much less morning and evening. Legalism perhaps?

By any chance, did he reach out to Pastor Fisk directly about his concerns FIRST? You know, brother to brother instead of relaying gossip. So disappointed!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Large Catechism: The Lord’s Prayer: Introduction, Part 1
Q: How do you want to start us off as we read the note?
It's important for us to talk about prayer, not just in terms of repetition but understanding its depth.
The Large Catechism: The Apostles’ Creed: 3rd Article, Part 2
Q: What are some distinctions to remember as we look at justification and sanctification?
There's a tension between what God has done and what he has not yet done. Justification is a given, but sanctification involves a growing awareness of our need for grace daily.
The Large Catechism: 2nd Commandment, Part 2
Q: How important is it to teach children to honor God's name?
It is crucial as children need to be disciplined to shun falsehood and honor God's name, which will influence their moral fabric into adulthood.
The Large Catechism: 2nd Commandment, Part 2
Q: Dr. Lane, I want to start this way. What are your first thoughts on the second commandment?
The first thing that comes to mind is how powerful the name of God is. It can be both for those who receive its power, it can be a blessing and curse.
Smalcald Articles: Part 3, Articles 14 & 15: Monastic Vows and Human Traditions
Q: What is the importance of understanding what the Church is?
Understanding the Church's nature is crucial because it emphasizes that holiness comes from faith in God's Word rather than man-made traditions or structures.
