Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 1718 - Heroes Con: Pornsak Pichetshote!
Q: How did The Good Asian come about?
The Good Asian grew from a desire to depict the Asian American experience through a Chinatown Noir lens, informed by the Chinese Exclusion Act era and real historical figures, and developed after years of pursuing editorial avenues before writing.
Episode 1718 - Heroes Con: Pornsak Pichetshote!
Q: How's that moving along? Can you talk about it?
I can't really talk about that in detail, but there is movement toward a sequel and ongoing discussions about the project, even though specifics are slow to come.
Episode 1720 - Heroes Con: Mico Suayan!
Q: What was your first professional work in comics?
My first professional work came through a smaller indie scene, digital webbing, where I posted samples and landed a first job after editors saw my DeviantArt submissions; Marvel came later after a mentor introduced me to editors and I secured a Marvel opportunity.
Episode 1720 - Heroes Con: Mico Suayan!
Q: When did you start drawing at a really young age?
I started very early, drawing from prep school and getting interested after copying cartoons I loved; I was influenced by classic Western heroes and later found my own detailed, darker style through a mix of influences including anime and Western art.
Episode 1706 - KICx: Roxenne Contreras!
Q: What does representation mean to you in your work?
Roxenne describes representation as validating diverse identities and experiences, especially for the Latin community, and sees comics as a medium to tell those stories with authenticity and personal connection.
