  • Based on Ep 1. Audio was SO bad I bailed.

The opening is obnoxious with the telephone ringing five times. Then the female host could barely be heard. I gave it a few minutes to grab me, and with the volume at full-tilt was not happy. Tell me it gets better and I might pickup later episodes. Sound is everything in podcasting. No self-agrandizing. No pumping-up your castmates. Tell a super story.

  • Work in progress, audio production lacking

Was excited when I learned Fritz had a new podcast as I respected his contributions on so many other podcasts. After listening to several episodes I’m perplexed by the consistent audio popping and blotchy hard edits making it frustrating to listen to. Made more frustrating is the subject matter and guests are interesting and would ordinarily make for a 5-star episode. I took several measures to check that the audio issues weren’t my specific device and haven’t heard the popping noises on any oth... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Cold Red Special: James R Fitzgerald on The Unabomber Arrest.
Q: Has the abductor profile evolved as the investigation progresses beyond the critical first 28 days?
The hosts explain that while early days drive leads, the core behavioral characteristics remain relevant; profiles are refined with new information but don't drastically overhaul the fundamental pre- and post-offense traits.
Cold Red Special: James R Fitzgerald on The Unabomber Arrest.
Q: Why did law enforcement withhold ransom details in the Nancy Guthrie case, and would publicizing them help the case?
They withheld ransom details to protect the victim, avoid signaling to suspects or copycats, preserve investigative strategy, and maintain legal/procedural integrity; publicizing a ransom could complicate prosecutions and endanger the victim.
Surviving the System: The Sara Kruzan Story
Q: What led to the pivotal moment when you took action?
Longstanding survival and cognitive dissonance built up over years, but in the hotel room the act happened quickly, and afterward I experienced intense remorse while recognizing it as a turning point to stop further abuse.
Surviving the System: The Sara Kruzan Story
Q: Did the abuse continue with him or expand to others in the neighborhood?
Yes, it expanded; he introduced other people and organized environments where multiple victims were exploited, including a gang-enabled dynamic, and I was pressured into further sexual acts.
Surviving the System: The Sara Kruzan Story
Q: Sara, how did you first get into contact with Gigi and what happened during that initial encounter?
Gigi approached me after school, talked to me, and made me feel safe enough to get in his car for ice cream; from there he began manipulative grooming that led to sexual abuse.
