  • Surprisingly Good Podcast

I have only experienced Keith through his hilarious videos, so I didn’t know what to expect going into this podcast, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Keith is compassionate, pastoral, and thoughtful in his responses, and never inappropriately funny. It should come without saying since he is a pastor, but these days the qualification of “dignified” has little meaning.

  • Informative and entertaining

First off, every time I hear the theme song it reminds me of the opening of an 80s or 90s sitcom. The song could easily be the opening of a sitcom focused around a Calvinist pastor, his family, church staff, and Church members.

I’ve been enjoying the bowtie dialogues. Christian denominations are an interest of mine. They aren’t discussed very much but I think it’s worth getting to know what various denominations believe. I’m glad that this podcast is filling that void.

  • Great Podcast but DROP THE THEME SONG

It’s very good. It covers a great range of topics as well as current events. JUST ONE THING: PLEASE DROP THE INTRO THEME SONG. PLEASE. It’s awful. I know it’s probably supposed to be funny, but it’s really not. Just buy a simple intro soundtrack like everyone else does. Or don’t use anything! Other than that, great podcast.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Would I Leave the Baptists? Plus Communion, Evangelism, and Study Bibles
Q: How can we encourage the body to share the gospel and maintain excitement about salvation?
Provide practical training, create low-pressure opportunities to participate, pair less confident believers with experienced ones, and emphasize the gospel as the ongoing center of the church's life.
When You Feel Like the Black Sheep at Church (and other questions)
Q: How should a church handle immodest dressing among youth and adults?
Address privately with the individual or with the spouse where appropriate, focusing on love and care, and consider involving a trusted partner (often a spouse) to communicate boundaries respectfully.
When You Feel Like the Black Sheep at Church (and other questions)
Q: What about a pastor's paralyzing fear of public speaking when answering a calling to ministry?
God equips those He calls; if fear is present, pursue training, begin with smaller roles, and seek mentoring and practice to grow confidence, continuing to rely on the Spirit for courage.
When You Feel Like the Black Sheep at Church (and other questions)
Q: Should we use wine in communion or is grape juice acceptable?
Both are acceptable texturally in many churches, but the speaker prefers wine and acknowledges grape juice as a workable alternative to accommodate those with past alcohol issues or younger participants; the key is to maintain unity and pastoral sensitivity.
Questions about Orthodoxy, Calvinism, PSA and More!
Q: Can you outright deny PSA and still be a Christian, or would that be heresy?
Penal substitutionary atonement is essential to the gospel in their view; denying it while claiming to be a Christian would be viewed as departing from core gospel-proclaiming orthodoxy, though there can be nuanced discussions about its historical development and understanding.
