  • Surprisingly Good Podcast

I have only experienced Keith through his hilarious videos, so I didn’t know what to expect going into this podcast, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Keith is compassionate, pastoral, and thoughtful in his responses, and never inappropriately funny. It should come without saying since he is a pastor, but these days the qualification of “dignified” has little meaning.

  • Informative and entertaining

First off, every time I hear the theme song it reminds me of the opening of an 80s or 90s sitcom. The song could easily be the opening of a sitcom focused around a Calvinist pastor, his family, church staff, and Church members.

I’ve been enjoying the bowtie dialogues. Christian denominations are an interest of mine. They aren’t discussed very much but I think it’s worth getting to know what various denominations believe. I’m glad that this podcast is filling that void.

  • Great Podcast but DROP THE THEME SONG

It’s very good. It covers a great range of topics as well as current events. JUST ONE THING: PLEASE DROP THE INTRO THEME SONG. PLEASE. It’s awful. I know it’s probably supposed to be funny, but it’s really not. Just buy a simple intro soundtrack like everyone else does. Or don’t use anything! Other than that, great podcast.

Talking Points

Debate: Are Female Deacons Biblical (Everhard vs Choi)
Q: How do you respond to the grammatical and syntactical arguments that Phoebe is a deacon and a formal officer?
The responder argues that Phoebe is better understood as a diakonon serving as a letter courier, not as an ordained officer; the majority of BDAG definitions and historical usage allow broader senses for diakonon, but the line of reasoning remains that Phoebe's role does not clearly establish an office with delegated authority within the church.
Can a Christian be Demon Possessed? (and other questions!)
Q: Is baptism part of the Ordo Salutis?
Baptism is not considered part of the Ordo Salutis (the order of salvation) but serves as a sign of the believer's union with Christ and commitment to the church; a Christian who refuses baptism cannot be accurately described as an unbaptized Christian but such a stance is biblically problematic.
Can a Christian be Demon Possessed? (and other questions!)
Q: What are your thoughts on apostasy?
Apostasy is falling away from the faith; Baptists typically hold that those who fall away were never truly born again, citing passages like 1 John 2 and Matthew 7 as supporting the view, while acknowledging complex biblical examples that require careful interpretation.
Are Churches of Christ Heretical? (And Other Questions!)
Q: Keith, what do you think about female elders or deacons?
I am 100% opposed to female elders and believe that the offices of elder and deacon are reserved for men, though women can serve in auxiliary roles alongside their husbands in the church.
Resources on Eastern Orthodoxy (and many more questions)
Q: What is the most compelling argument for infant baptism and how would you respond?
Infant baptism arguments cited include continuity with covenant promises; the host compares views and argues from scripture and historic confessions rather than endorsing infant baptism as required for salvation.
