Reviews

  • What’s with the swingy music during reporting?

I appreciate the effort the network puts into delivering news, but I’ve noticed that the loud background music and frequent ads in the middle of reports make it hard to follow the updates clearly. It would be helpful if the background music were lowered or removed and the timing of ads adjusted so that viewers can focus on the news without distractions.

  • Unlistenable at times

Why does Kate Baldwin deliver the news like she is an Instagram influencer? So unprofessional I had to stop listening to keep my nervous system in check.

  • Great except recycled morning tv content

I like this show, but I dislike it when they play what I assume is a TV version in the morning. It is especially frustrating when it is obviously visual content. I'm on the verge of taking out of my morning line up.

  • Enough with the disco

This is supposed to be a clean, simple news reporting show. Since the addition of the drum beats in the back ground- they are ruining it. I've switched to a "clean" source. (no drum circle over my news)

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

One Thing: Inside the Turmoil at 60 Minutes
Q: For those who haven't been following this saga, how did we get here?
The discussion traces back to long-standing ownership and leadership shifts at CBS and Paramount, the Trump-era pressures, and a settlement surrounding a Trump-related lawsuit that disrupted 60 Minutes, setting the stage for Bari Weiss to overhaul CBS News and bring in Nick Bilton as a major shake-up, with an emphasis on digital expansion and outsider leadership.
One Thing: Why Comedians Say Colbert’s Exit is No Joke
Q: So, what does this moment represent for you as you watch Colbert sign off and the late-night landscape change?
Michael Ian Black expresses that the moment signals both risks and responsibility for comedians; it highlights the fragility of platforms for anti-establishment humor and underscores the need for creators to decide how to balance truth-telling with potential consequences, while acknowledging his own peace with continuing to speak his mind.
One Thing: A School Shooting’s Long Shadow
Q: What did you learn in this process that you might take away with you as you undoubtedly have to cover more of this?
Sticking with survivors should be a higher priority for journalists, and the ongoing experience of people who have had this kind of trauma deserves as much newsworthiness as the events themselves.
One Thing: What the Redistricting ‘Race to the Bottom’ Actually Looks Like
Q: So, your district, Louisiana 6th Congressional District, was really at the heart of this major Supreme Court case last month. Can you just take us back and explain how it was drawn the way that it was?
Fields explains his role as former chairman and the rationale behind the plan, noting that the map created two majority-minority districts and arguing that the predominant factor was politics, not race, while acknowledging court rulings that shaped how districts could be drawn.
One Thing: ICE Wants to Be NICE. Will Americans Buy It?
Q: How could the Supreme Court ruling affect TPS and Haitian migrants?
A ruling could determine the future of TPS protections for Haitians and impact other immigrant groups, potentially ending or narrowing protections and forcing migrants to pursue alternative legal avenues.
