  • No more morning commute?!

I commute in my car for an hour and a half every morning. I used to turn on Five Things when I got in at 6:30 AM; now I get to work at 8 AM and it’s still not available in my Apple feed. Additionally I can’t see videos in my car, and don’t appreciate the references and the waste of time talking about them. Bring back the earlier time drop, please.

  • Dislike New Anchor’s Format

I’ve listened to CNN 5 Things for a long time because it provided a fast, straightforward list of the day’s top stories. I don’t like the new music or format or new anchor Kate Baldwin. I don’t want to hear about her or have her side commentaries. For listeners like me who rely on it for a neutral news briefing, the other anchors and the earlier format worked much better. I would really appreciate a return to the more direct “just the news” style that made the podcast so useful.

One Thing: Is This Social Media's Big Tobacco Moment?
Q: What has the reaction been across the tech world?
Clare explains that the verdict sends a signal about public perception of big tech and confirms that platforms can be held liable for design choices affecting youth, potentially changing future litigation and policy dynamics.
One Thing: After DOGE Cuts, The Government Is Hiring Again. Will Anyone Bite?
Q: Has the Trump administration improved any federal operations, despite the chaos?
There are some improvements in communication with the workforce, particularly via email, but these have often been used to traumatize employees rather than to enhance public service, indicating mixed outcomes with serious long-term costs.
One Thing: After DOGE Cuts, The Government Is Hiring Again. Will Anyone Bite?
Q: What is your reaction to the scale of downsizing and the claim that the government will hire again?
The reaction is that the downsizing has caused lasting harm, morale collapse, and crucial gaps in capability; the push to hire again risks prioritizing loyalty over expertise and could perpetuate a nonperforming, politicized workforce unless coupled with real accountability and reform.
One Thing: Will Epstein Accountability Ever Come to the US?
Q: What has the DOJ said why they took that route?
The DOJ has responded by saying that they had an overwhelming amount of information to process, and mistakes were made in redactions.
One Thing: Will Epstein Accountability Ever Come to the US?
Q: How do you think we should look at this story right now?
We can see the beginning of a long process where survivors realize that the public is starting to understand the gravity of the situation.
