  • Great Show!

Thanks Paul and staff for always bringing interesting and informative topics to our attention. I also appreciate the short timeframe, which fits nicely in today’s busy world.

  • Climate matters

Plus: your broadcast, points to the effects of CC locally with great effect. Negative: your broadcast, fails miserably at pointing fingers at the causes of CC. My quote: “fossil fuels are our destruction”! Neutral: people want/need hope. I grew up knowing our world would end in nuclear winter. Now I “believe” our end is a CO2 summer. I was wrong the first time; let’s keep our fingers crossed! I recommend a podcast called “Drilled”. Because!

Excellent topics. Impactful, but brief. Always interesting guests who leave an imprint and reinforce what I’m doing to reduce CO2. Thanks for all that you do!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How resilience hubs are giving climate aid before, during, and after a crisis
Q: Kent, let's talk about equity. Why is it important to invest in low-income communities and communities of color?
Climate change disproportionately impacts marginalized populations, leading to under-investment and higher exposure to hazards, so equity is essential to ensure resilience resources reach those most at risk.
How resilience hubs are giving climate aid before, during, and after a crisis
Q: Where are some of these hubs located and where do you hope to create more?
Currently four hubs are being developed across the Twin Cities in partnership with the University of Minnesota, with growing interest across Minnesota to scale the program to more communities.
How resilience hubs are giving climate aid before, during, and after a crisis
Q: So first off, tell us, what exactly is a climate resilience hub and what does that look like in practice?
A resilience hub is a safe, frequented space or network of spaces designed to meet community needs before, during, and after disasters, serving as refuges during events and transforming into resource distribution points in recovery, with a strong emphasis on education and social cohesion.
How a Minnesota research team finds carbon a home in retired croplands
Q: How does carbon get pulled from the atmosphere and stored in soil and plant matter?
Plants extract carbon dioxide via photosynthesis using sunlight, converting it into biomass; when plants die or roots decompose, this carbon can accumulate in soils, providing a long-term reservoir.
How a Minnesota research team finds carbon a home in retired croplands
Q: Eric, how is this technique part of the larger mosaic of climate solutions?
Grasslands are a crucial, often overlooked part of nature-based solutions; unlike forests, most carbon in grasslands is stored below ground, offering a resilient carbon sink that can endure disturbances.
