I love that it starts with the actual factuals of the movie, who’s in it, who made it etc…
And then delivers on a concise movie review.
John is fun to listen to, he gets great information and I just love how he finds tons of great movies I am not familiar with and brings them to my attention. I feel like listening to this podcast makes my love of movies expand and grow even more.
Really enjoy listening
Since I was a teenager I thought my friends and I were the only people that heard of, let alone saw, One Two Three. I love getting the actors bio as well as the movie summary. Can’t wait to listen to more. Hoping for all the William Powell & Myrna Loy movies. Also I would love for you to do The Postman.
This is a podcast with zero substance. Most of the podcast is devoted to telling us what the movie is about, which we already know because we love old movies. The rest of it is saying "Walter Brennan is in this. I covered Walter Brennan in episode 14 when I reviewed The Westerner"...He barely tells us what he thinks of the movie, just what the movie is about. And we don't care what episode it was that you covered the 10 people who are in the movie you're currently talking about. Really bad.

Each episode typically combines a concise, research-backed take on a movie with background on cast, production, and era-appropriate context, often connecting real-world sites, historical events, or artifacts to the on-screen storytelling. The host's unique angle—historic lens, site-specific observations, and emphasis on deep-dive background—offers a distinctive pull for listeners who enjoy learning how history and archaeology intersect with classic film, while still getting clear, approachable reviews and short summaries.
