Well it should be it costs the tax payer net £10bn a year, accelerating to £20-£25bn in 10 years time.
Civil Servants don’t need a podcast to tell them how fortunate they are compared to everyone else.
I’ve listened to all three series of this podcast and now whilst I’m waiting for season 4 to come out I’m going to listen to them again. It is broken down into smaller topics that are pretty much perfect for my morning commute. It’s never to early to think about retirement and pension, especially as this is one of the main attractions for the Civil Service. Let’s face it the pay isn’t the reason we work here. The presenters are pretty engaging and ask sensible questions and in different ways tha... more
A lot of talk about starting young, which is ok but I’m guessing most people have come to this podcast because they are thinking of retiring in the near future not in 30 - 40 years. I’ve listen to 4 podcasts and I’m no wiser about my civil service pension than I was before. I realise everybody is now enrolled in Alpha but could we have an episode on what a Premuim/ classic pension is, how it is calculated, when can you take it, what do spouses get, what if you don’t want to consider a spouse bec... more
First episode is useful. I got halfway through the 2nd - the lady they interviewed didn’t resonate with me or my lifestyle now or where I want to be in the future. I’ve no interest in the rest of the episodes as they don’t pertain to my own circumstances.
Now that CPI inflation is 10.1% could you do a podcast explaining the benefits and risks for members who are considering opting out of alpha and into partnership. My understanding is that if members opt out of alpha for 5 years there preserved pension becomes index linked to the CPI. Please could you do a b podcast on this?
