This isn’t deeply researched - no new information. Old cases you can find on Wiki, with inaccuracies about the cities. The writing is filled with cliches. I wondered if it was half written by AI.
I’ve been watching the old episodes on Tubi and I really like the narrator. He makes the show. This isn’t it. It’s the exact same words but not as interesting. 95-05 best episodes. I’m from SC and my grandmother graduated from newberry college, I’ve heard this story all my life. But OMG I didn’t know we sounded like that
Just listened to the tragic killing of a Canadian girl in Bermuda. If I haven’t heard this 10-year old case a thousand times, I haven’t heard it at all. City Confidential should be renamed City Recycling, because they can’t do an original story.
All these episodes are available on Roku or Tubi for free. Theres approximately 20 or so episodes thats A&E hasn’t released since the show went off air in 2005. 98-2005 were the good seasons; anything after is not in the same style
Looking forward to each new episode. Many thanks.

Across recent episodes, the show surveys how crime reshapes cities and towns, blending archival reporting with contemporary storytelling. Listeners get a mix of high-profile cases, local legends, and municipal tremors—from civil-rights-era clashes and political scandals to small-town murders and legendary treasure hunts. Narration tends to foreground personal voices—detectives, journalists, families, and community members—to reveal the ripple effects on policing, governance, and local identity. Noteworthy is the consistent radius around place and community memory, plus occasional deep dives into the legal and cultural aftershocks that follow infamous events.
A distinguishing angle is the noir-inspired, deeply local lens: original crimes re... more
