  • Favorite podcast!

This is my favorite Jewish podcast! Rabbi Shira and Hana are excellent hosts who complement each other, with Shira providing excellent Torah commentary (the breadth and depth of her knowledge of Jewish texts is amazing!) and Hana contributing a boots-on-the-ground perspective. They select letters on a broad range of subjects, and I have learned so much about how Judaism views contemporary life through the eyes of these inquisitive, knowledgeable, and compassionate women. Who, BTW, clearly enjoy ... more

  • It's pretty good, and it's free!

Excellent content, thoughtful discussions. I love both of the hosts and they have amazing rapport and chemistry. I'm so glad I found this online community.

Update: As a linguist, I'm here for the uvular fricative!

I was sad to see Josh go, but I'm extremely happy both with the new format and the rapport that Hanna and Rabbi Shira have. Thank you!

  • Great spiritual insight

I just love this podcast. Both of these women have such well balanced and reasonable views. They really look at an issue from absolutely all sides and I end each episode feeling more spiritual and satisfied. I wish I knew them in person.

Tradition!
Q: How do you instill in him an awareness of my faith and traditions in a way that isn't rigidly formal and lecturish?
The one thing that is most important to me is that Alyssa and her partner be the ones responsible for how they raise their child.
Tradition!
Q: What are the Jewish hills that you're willing, the traditions that you feel are so important for your kids to pass on to their kids?
I don't really think of it in terms of passing it on to generations. I don't have that kind of, I don't have that in me to like force it on.
Tattoo Taboos
Q: What bothers you about the tattoo?
It bothers me when people talk to me about my religion or my beliefs, and they mention the Celtic cross tattoo.
Tattoo Taboos
Q: Does this turn around what gashes in your skin means and referred to? Like, is there some originalist interpretation of gashes in your skin?
What it is that is marked on his body that is bothering him. It points to the fallacy that tattoos aren't entirely forbidden.
Shopping for Shuls
Q: What kind of consumer are you?
Hanna describes herself as intuitive rather than a researched consumer, relying on feelings when making purchases.
