  • You guys should talk over each other more.

Please give each other a chance to talk. It’s very hard to keep track of who’s talking and what’s going on when you’re all so eager to make a joke at any cost.

Came for the music discourse stayed for everything else. It deserves a hard bop. Kylan, TJ and Josh totally feel like dudes I know and would love to chill and hang with. I recommend this to everyone. Not sure what else to write here, go enjoy some sweet sweet bass.

Hey guys, love the show, fun insights, often times I disagree with y’all’s takes but it’s cool to hear a different opinion than my own on a lot of these records.

Have you guys listened to So Long Forgotten? If I remember rightly, Cody helped produce their second record and did some guest vox on it. Great band, great record. Y’all should cover it!

    Thanks!

  • Please Stop Bloviating

I really want to like this podcast. These guys are slightly older than me, which means they cover some records that are a little before my time. I tend to only listen to the episodes of albums I grew up with, to hit that “growing up homeschooled in Texas” nostalgia. I recently tried to listen to their Jars of Clay “Much Afraid” episode and had to delete it because we were 40 minutes in and they hadn’t even gotten to the record yet. Please, for the love of everything guys, cut down on the gabbing... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Vol. 167 - Smile, It’s The End Of The World by Hawk Nelson w/Jason Dunn
Q: What were the main musical directions you wanted to explore going into Smile, It's The End Of The World?
We wanted to evolve from Letters To The President by embracing a heavier, more live, punchier sound while still incorporating melodic hooks and piano textures that complemented the band's pop-punk roots.
Vol. 162 - Eager Seas by Watashi Wa w/Seth Roberts
Q: What makes The Courtyard a standout track for you?
It's a favorite that showcases dynamic contrasts, harmonica and a melodic hook; the song's narrative about reconnection amidst evolving relationships makes it emotionally resonant and representative of the album's thematic ambitions.
Vol. 162 - Eager Seas by Watashi Wa w/Seth Roberts
Q: Why was the album partly released under Watashi Wa and later rebranded as Eager Seas?
The label and band members grappled with branding and market positioning; releasing under Watashi Wa with Eager Seas as the album title created cross-promotional momentum, but marketing confusion ultimately led to rebranding under Militia Group and later formal recognition of Eager Seas as a distinct project.
Vol. 162 - Eager Seas by Watashi Wa w/Seth Roberts
Q: What was the headspace going into the studio for this album?
Seth describes a period of upheaval and renewal, with a sense of freedom to explore different musical directions and production approaches, moving away from expectations to fit a specific label or sound.
SJN05 - Louder Now by Taking Back Sunday (Jammers Only)
Q: Kylan, if you had to get a Taking Back Sunday tattoo, what would you get?
A lyric or imagery from Where You Want to Be that captures the era, with a design that nods to the band's signature aesthetic and the song moments that defined the era for the hosts.
