  • Brilliant!

I can’t get enough of listening to this podcast. The depth and breadth of Dr. Montgomery’s knowledge of the Bible is astounding, and he is an excellent communicator. I especially enjoy the call-in radio show — not just for his answers, but also for his witty interactions with the callers. But what I don’t understand is, why isn’t his name familiar to all of Christendom? Dr. Montgomery — holder of five Ph.D.s! — is the best modern theologian that the world seemingly has never heard about. I’m s... more

  • Faith and reason

Dr. Montgomery easily shows why the reason of man is inferior to the reasoning of God, and how man has used this is knowledge to create laws and to stay within laws that God has already written on their hearts.

  • A Champion of the Gospel

Full disclosure: I publish many of Dr. Montgomery’s books, but this podcast is amazing and a bit of a blast from the past. I used to listen to Dr. Montgomery’s radio show of the same name back in the 80’s. Expertly engineered, this show is a pleasure in the listening. It’s good to hear Dr. Montgomery heading “once more into the breach” of broadcasting. Also having a classic version of the podcast with the broadcasts from way back when not only gives me nostalgia but a benchmark for how well Dr. ... more

Episode # 165 "Defense Of The Christian Faith" Part 4
Q: Didn't Hogan deny that there was any allegorical context in the Old Testament?
Yes, Hogan denied that there was allegorical context; the distinction made is between allegory and myth, with allegory being a more direct one-to-one mapping while myth operates on archetypal, universal levels that engage deeper psychic life.
COT-Classics Episode # 135 Reformation Tour 1996 Tape # 31 "Marburg Debate"
Q: What were the factors involved in that where it was so quickly suppressed in Germany and yet in Switzerland and France it proliferated?
Biblical criticism undermined people's confidence in the scriptures among intellectuals, leading them to turn away from Reformation ideas. The Enlightenment also played a significant role in diminishing the momentum of the Reformation in Germany.
COT-Classics Episode # 135 Reformation Tour 1996 Tape # 31 "Marburg Debate"
Q: What was, why did the Protestant Reformation spread so readily throughout the rest of Europe and the world after Luther's death and it died down in Germany?
The Reformation spread rapidly because people were dissatisfied with the current church practices and wanted the freedom from their sins that Luther offered, combined with the revolutionary printing technology that disseminated Reformation ideas.
