  • A must listen

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this podcast before, it’s been my absolute favourite for years. Lighthearted but not afraid to talk about the complicated things, sincere, and funny as all hell.

No false advertising here! Mak, Ashley and Alayna truly have that classic family dynamic of bickering and love and I just love it.

  • Y'all are sleeping on this. Get over your first impression of Ashley, she's a sour patch kid. This podcast is really good for anyone, but especially if you are lgbtq+ and like funny, introspective banter, and a podcast that truly feels like you are hanging out with friends

  • Mak and Alayna are Great!

I find Alayna and Mak to have entertaining and interesting perspectives, dialogue, banter, humor and I enjoy listening to the episodes they’re in without Ashley. Unfortunately, Ashley frequently (and very loudly) talks over them both, derails interesting and funny conversations to make it about her or to “do bits” that are more annoying than entertaining, and often says things that indicate unexamined internalized misogyny (overgeneralizing women, perpetuating harmful stereotypes, saying things ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Mak's Other Family
Q: Why did you choose the name for Mak's new show Chosen Family?
The rationale is that it mirrors the show's concept of choosing family beyond blood ties, and they discuss naming as part of branding alignment with their existing project.
The Great Cheating Debate
Q: What about scenarios where they literally just wanted to sleep with somebody else?
In that case, you might just be with a dirt bag who doesn't care about your feelings; it might be better to move on instead of trying to fix the relationship.
The Great Cheating Debate
Q: What is the difference between a couple who makes it through a cheating incident and a couple who does not?
The cheating partner has a lot of work to do, including radical transparency and accountability for their actions.
Mak Learns To Twerk
Q: What things are fair of me to ask of her and what aren't in this type of relationship?
You just shouldn't be in a relationship with them while they're going through the major life change.
We Like Our Friends Cancelled
Q: Can we get over clashing attachment styles?
It sounds like this is having a real impact on your very new relationship, and so this is a conversation that the two of you need to have.
