  • Thoughtful analysis

First of all caveat emptor, you should be carefully making your own investment decisions. Nick provides interesting comment and analysis on companies that are usually, but not always semiconductor related or sector adjacent. Well worth a listen.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Faraj Aalaei on Why AI Will Let Anyone Design a Chip — and What Happens When the Semiconductor Industry Finally Catches Up
Q: Is the goal for Cognichip to let non-engineers design chips, and how realistic is this vision?
Yes, the vision is democratizing chip design so scientists and non-traditional designers can create chips for simulations or prototypes, though current industry realities mean gradual adoption. Over time, as AI models become better and data governance improves, more people will be able to prototype and even tape out chips, lowering barriers to entry.
What the Luddites Teach Us About AI ft. Jacob Goldstein
Q: What can we learn from the Luddites about AI today?
Historically, backlash to new tech when it first disrupts livelihoods often fades as productivity rises and new opportunities emerge; the Luddites were rational in opposing mechanization but ultimately their movement waned as the long-run benefits became clear, suggesting a similar arc might unfold with AI as new jobs and systems adapt.
The ROI of AI: When Will These Massive Investments Finally Pay Off? Interview with Simon Erickson
Q: So, Simon, where do you see the semiconductors in 2026?
Erickson indicates there is still pressure on the semiconductor manufacturing process for efficiency and cost savings, but there's significant ongoing investment in this area.
The ROI of AI: When Will These Massive Investments Finally Pay Off? Interview with Simon Erickson
Q: Does it worry you at all being an investor of Google and Amazon?
Despite the crazy CapEx spending, Simon expresses confidence in these investments, indicating a belief in the strategic importance and potential return.
