Alex argues that centrism is less about being a contrarian, it is about being able to change your mind and embrace an openness to new ideas. He is concerned about where the United States is headed and through conversations with people from all s... more

Very interesting and not what I expected.
Even ideas he disagrees with are explained in a way that the proponents of those ideas would approve of because he depicts the positions accurately. Rare. The occasional misrepresentation seems to be from a misreading rather than bad will. This guy is instructive, interesting and good for my blood pressure. Unfortunately, this approach is not likely to get thousands of partisans following him.
I am so glad to have found this podcast. I appreciate Alex’s voice and his centrist views. He takes a more nuanced approach to what is happening in the world today than most of the mainstream media does. We need more conversations like this, with views and opinions given in a kind and informed way. The length is great too, just enough info to really take it all in.
I like the centrism and willingness to use nuance!
A little right, a little level, fully rational. I think Alex adds a lot to just trying to understand the craziness. He’s definitely biased against the trump movement, but he is right about the threat.

A centrist-leaning show that probes politics, policy, and culture through conversations and sharp commentary. Episodes mix political analysis with discussions of international affairs, media, and pop culture, often illustrating how incentives, institutions, and beliefs shape outcomes. A notable strength is the willingness to entertain multiple perspectives, challenge assumptions, and connect domestic politics to global dynamics, all delivered with a brisk, opinionated voice that keeps complex ideas accessible. This mix makes it appealing to listeners who want nuanced debate over partisan zeal and who value thoughtful context when evaluating current events and policy tradeoffs.
