In our last (for now) episode, we chat to John Kelleher who was appointed Irish film censor in 2003. When he left in 2009, the Irish Film Censor's Office had been renamed the Irish Film Classification Office, a reform that reflected how it had become... more
Censors have been replaced by classifiers, opaque silence by annual reports. We read recent annual reports from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) and the Irish Film Classification Office (IFCO) to see how those offices work in a digital... more

I discovered this Podcast a few weeks back and now am binging it and loving it. The hosts are brilliantly warm, funny, entertaining and knowledgeable. Keep making it please !
Reviewing books, and now plays and even magazines banned by Irish censors over the years, this podcast is a fun insight into the 20th Century Irish sensibilities, along with decent book reviews. Censorship Bingo to sum things up is fun but the very full review of each book is the fun of the pod, and I love how she puts things into context. 5 stars!
An intelligent look at literature with more than a smattering of rudeness…topped with a gorgeous accent!!
This is a wonderful podcast - the finest literature (sometimes) is raked through to unearth the smut that got it banned. Aoife is a brilliant host making a subject that could be mere titillation something of academic note. Well worth a listen for her really funny asides and guest banter.
Love this podcast, clever and often smutty 🌷
