As the Executive Director of our store front HIV rapid testing site located in North Philadelphia’s Kensington area. We are on the front line where most of our guest are homeless, active IV substance users, street workers male & females who are living below low income levels who have not health relationships with any health care establishment. I’ve used this podcast as a tool to aid us in our efforts to Ending The HIV Epidemic.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Evolving ART Switch Options Podcast
Q: Is there any need to consider renal clearance thresholds when switching to the two-drug regimen?
Yes. Creatinine clearance above 30 mL/min is considered a cutoff for considerations around duraverine-related regimens, with monitoring advised for renal function and potential dose adjustments as data evolve.
What's New? Simplifying the Complex, Exploring New Approaches in HIV Care for Treatment-Experienced People
Q: How should we view long-acting options for HTE patients in light of Doravirin-Islatravir data?
Doravirin-Islatravir may be less favorable in patients with specific NNRTI resistance mutations or M184V/I mutations, suggesting Biclin could be more suitable for highly treatment-experienced individuals, while long-acting regimens offer valuable options for adherence challenges.
What's New? Simplifying the Complex, Exploring New Approaches in HIV Care for Treatment-Experienced People
Q: What are the implications of Artistry 2 for practice?
Artistry 2 indicates that Bictegravir Lenacapivir is non-inferior to Bictegravir FTC-TAF, with similar discontinuation rates due to adverse events, supporting its use as an alternative option in appropriate patients.
What's New? Simplifying the Complex, Exploring New Approaches in HIV Care for Treatment-Experienced People
Q: Could Artistry 1 persuade clinicians to switch patients from complex regimens to Biclen safely?
Yes, the data suggest non-inferiority in maintaining suppression with a simpler regimen, with tolerability comparable to the broader complex regimens, though some early adverse events may be attributed to ascertainment bias in open-label designs.
You’re in the Know Podcast: Applying the Latest Advances in Complicated UTI to Practice
Q: What consideration is most important when selecting an empiric therapy for this patient?
The most important consideration is the risk of having a resistant pathogen, which guides initial empiric choices to cover likely MDROs; patient factors like sepsis severity, prior MDRO history, healthcare exposure, allergies, and local antibiogram data are integrated in a four-step framework.
