This show really takes me back to growing up with the Carry On movies in England. Excellent reviews and very engaging hosts. Carry On! 😂
I listened to 6 or 7 of these and whilst they are okay, what I don’t understand is how two persons who are clearly offended by pretty much anything and everything, are Carry on Fans in the first place. Anyone who’s watched and loves carry on, surely knows what they contain, these two are just looking for things to be offended by, surely pick a subject that you won’t be offended by like rap music!!!
I have listened to every episode and I am about to listen to Carry On Up The Jungle, I have don’t high hopes as I find it funny but the constant bellyaching about “problematic elements” in earlier episodes has started to wear thin. YES WE KNOW THEY ARE DATED AND OF THEIR ERA, seriously I assume you went into this with your eyes open? Stop telling us that they have dated elements in them. Other than this constant irritation the podcasts are quite informative and interesting.
Being another who was brought up in the Carry On era I was eager to listen to these. Unfortunately it seems it is constant reminders of how these would not be acceptable today. Surely it was understood what this content comprised of and is it really a surprise that it is humour of its age. It is frankly tiring to hear it raised again and again rather than reflecting on a series that undoubtedly has its place in cultural history (and should be recognised as such).
